As many movies hit the theaters recently, the highly anticipated sequel of the 2021 film “Dune: Part 1” has been released.
Its impact on audiences has already helped solidify its position as one of the top, if not the top movie of the year. While it may still be too early on to tell, Dune: Part 2’s cinematic visuals and intriguing narrative give it the basis for a nomination. The film also includes a great cast with stars such as Timothee Chalamet, in the lead role, Zendaya and Rebecca Ferguson.
While Dune: Part 2 is not to be missed, it may be time to put an end to the film franchise. One of the main aspects of the film that left fans divided was the open-ended conclusion which hinted at a potential Dune: Part 3.
Some may say it sets a stage for an epic conclusion and while that may be the case, it takes away from the overall point of the film and leaves viewers waiting. While the storyline and cinematics are good, you can only drag a story on so long until it gets boring.
Perhaps the franchise could have been told within just two movies, or even one, but that shouldn’t discredit the beautiful work of movie director, Denis Villeneuve.
If you liked Dune: Part 1, you’ll most likely enjoy this one even more; I would give Dune: Part 2 a 4.5 out of 5 stars, and I would definitely recommend it.
