The Patterson Club is an 18-hole private facility designed by Robert Trent Jones, Sr., and is located on the southern shoreline of Connecticut, and approximately 45 miles from New York City. The golf course is set on 170 acres of rolling terrain that provides a variety of conditions that provide a beautiful walk and challenge the golfer's ability. There are 365 golf families, that play an average of 20,000 rounds annually. Founded in 1929 by the General Electric Company, the club has a strong history of family activities and a welcoming environment.
The club is associated with the Connecticut State Golf Association, Metropolitan Golf Association, and the Metropolitan Section of the PGA of America and has proudly hosted championships for all three associations as well as qualifying events for USGA championships. Most recently the club hosted the 2022 MGA Senior Open Championship and the 2023 Ct State Golf Association Borck Junior Championship. In 2023 the club added TopTracer Range to the practice facility.

Throughout his time at Patterson, Chris Kenney has enjoyed mentoring PGM Interns and Assistant Golf Professionals that have gone on to work at facilities such as Fisher's Island, Oakmont, Westchester CC, Grove XXIII, Shooting Star GC, Kinloch GC, Baltusrol CC, The Country Club, Portland CC, Wilmington CC, Mountain Lake, Jupiter Island Club, Jim McLean Golf Academy, Firestone, Tuxedo GC, The Creek, Meadowbrook CC, Essex CC, as well as Head Professional positions at Innis Arden Golf Club and The Milbrook Club.

The PGM Intern position provides an opportunity to be a contributing member of a team that prides itself on exceptional customer relations, outside-the-box thinking, and staff development. You will work with Assistant Professionals who are also graduates of PGM Programs to achieve operational goals and create lifelong memories.

There are 7 month and 3 month positions available
General
Sincere interest in each member's golf game
Interact with members and guests on and off the golf course to enhance and create a memorable experience
Develop lesson plans for Junior Golf Clinics
Play Golf with Members
Work on established goals for PGM materials
Golf Shop Operations
Provide exceptional customer service for Members and Guests
Manage golf shop displays
Work with Assistant Golf Professional to create promotions and social media content
Instruction
Lead Instructor for Summer Jr Camp (Panther Camp)
Teach Junior Golf Clinics
Create social media content for golf instruction
Tournament Management
Work with Assistant Golf Professionals to conduct events at the club. Will be involved in all aspects of event management.
Assist with the implementation of member leagues
Will be responsible to be the lead professional for one mixed twilight golf event as well as the junior club championship
Responsibilities will be added as the Intern demonstrates both the interest and ability to take them on
At the completion of your internship you will have the experience to:
Manage a golf tournament from start to finish
Develop lesson plans for golf instruction
Manage daily golf shop operations and create a marketing plan
Lead team members in providing informative clinics and successful tournaments
Be a confident public speaker

Chris Kenney is finishing his 22nd season as the Head Golf Professional at The Patterson Club. Prior to coming to The Patterson Club Chris worked as an Assistant Golf Professional at Bethesda CC, Sleepy Hollow CC, The Bonita Bay Club, and The Pittsburgh Field Club. Prior to that he gained his start in the golf industry at The Ridgewood Country Club.
Chris lives in Fairfield with his wife Stacie where they are both active in the community and have enjoyed raising their two children, Riley (22) and Sean (17).
Currently, Chris serves as the Honorary President of the Metropolitan Section of the PGA and on the National PGA Board of Control.
