Hello Nighthawks! This article is more of an FAQ with logistics! Tri M will be holding an instrument drive from March 2nd throughout the entire month of March. We hope to see you donating or spreading the word to those you know. This is not just a school-wide donation drive, but available to anyone who is interested and has equipment or instruments they would like to clean out of their possession.
What can I donate/What are the requirements?
Almost all instruments are welcomed as long as they are working or only need MINOR repairs! They do not allow pianos to be donated because of the size and inconvenience -- electric keyboards however are allowed. You can also donate accessories or extra music related equipment like unused reeds, and mouthpieces, and music stands.
When donating (whichever of the 3 ways you choose), you will be given a form to fill out about the donation(s). It will require the date of donation, your name and email, what the donation is, approximate size, damages or repairs needed, estimated value(or if unknown leave it blank for representatives to inspect and fill out), and donation ID.
When can I donate?
Students: If you are a NORTHFIELD STUDENT enrolled in the 2025-26 school year, you can drop off instruments at B1-116 during Final 30 or off periods on Tuesdays and Friday. We only ask that if you are dropping off during the day you do not disrupt classroom activities and instructional time!
Dropping off during designated times: Donation drop off will be held by Tri-M representatives from 3:25 to 3:50 every Tuesday and Friday of March (3rd, 6th, 10th, 13th, 16th, 20th, 23rd, 27th).Â
Donate during the day: If donating during the school day works best for your schedule, our front office is open every school day from 8:25 am to 4pm. You can also call at 720-423-8000 to let them know you will be stopping by!
How does it work?
Dropping off during designated times: You can drive up to the roundabout off 56th Avenue (student parking lot near tennis courts). There will be students waiting for you and your donations! You will be given a form to fill out before giving the form and your donations to the representatives to log into the system.
Donate during the day: Visit the front office in B5 of Northfield High School (5500 Central Park Blvd, Denver, CO 80238. You must ring the bell and inform them you are donating to the Music Department to be buzzed in. Once inside with your donations, you will fill out a form and leave everything (including the form) in the front office with staff.
Where will they go?
These donations will go to schools in the Denver Area that need it. Right now, we are still sending out promotional material to schools and areas. However, they will not go to waste AT ALL! They will be used and appreciated and help promote music without the stress of money and affording the tools for students.
