After almost two years of being bombarded by the threat of the COVID-19 pandemic, Paranaque Science High School officially opened the expanded face-to-face classes on February 21. This is in light of the transition from the old normal to the new normal in order to continue moving forward from the challenges brought about by the widespread health crisis.

ParSci has been conducting an online learning mode for almost two years, ever since the pandemic started. Admittedly, this transition serves as a stepping stone for all the students, faculty members, and the whole community to continue providing quality education amidst the crisis's peril.

“Ang pinaka mabisang pagtuturo at pagkatuto ay nagaganap sa loob ng classroom," the school head, Mr. Ruel A. Grafil, said on his welcoming speech. He further stated that quality education can never be achieved without the presence of competent teachers and their willingness to teach and of course, the presence of motivated students who are willing to learn.

Mr. Grafil also added in his morning speech that effective scores and effective deliberate instructions only happen inside the classroom, wherein students and teachers are engaged personally with efficient communication. His remarks were followed by the morning exercise where learners and all the campus staff were encouraged to participate in commemorating the first flag-raising ceremony inside the campus.

However, in an interview with Sir Jeffrey Orosco, he advised the students to take precautionary measures before going in and after going out of the school premises. The school's safety officer also added that the biggest challenge brought by the one-year preparation was the limited manpower and movement due to the concerns and worries with regard to the non-teaching staff's health.

This also corresponds with Mr. Grafil's statement wherein the school head had stated that there were quite a number of preparations done before opening the expanded face-to-face classes as the school needs to comply with instructions and protocols mandated by the Department of Health, Department of Education, and Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases.

With that, the faculty assures each student and every parent that all safety equipment such as alcohol dispensers and isolation tents are prepared to cater to students, especially if transmission happens.

Additionally, when asked about the developments expected over the next few months, Mrs. Evangeline Ladines, in an interview, said that she remains optimistic that this opening of expanded face-to-face is a preparation for the school to transition into the new normal.

"There is no way to go back to the old normal, we will just be walking forward," the Schools Division Superintendent added.

The first flag-raising ceremony of the expanded face-to-face classes ended with the students being instructed to wash their hands in the newly made washing area before entering the premises of the Senior High School building where the instructional sessions will be conducted.

Recently, the expanded face-to-face and HyBlendEd learning have come to an end for this school year as the academic year nears its close. Hence, Mr. Grafil continues to be enthusiastic as they express their earnest excitement in accommodating more students to join the expanded face-to-face classes.
