BIOGRAPHY.

About House Wendwater:

It is unknown how the house came to be. It was believed to have been created by a small group stemming from the First Men however records have either since been destroyed or lost. They are a small but noble house in the North of Westeros and they mainly overlook the breeding of dogs and horses in their small lands, as well as manage the surrounding lands and the people living upon them. The noble house of Wendwater has been a valiant and loyal follower of House Stark for many years and have responded to their call without fail. The house ensures that the traditions of the Old Gods are kept to and have not faltered from the faith since the beginning.

Backstory:

Mariela was born on a dark and cold morning with the wind howling outside. Some thought that it was a bad omen from the Gods declaring a weak baby, however the worries did not last as once the news of a healthy baby girl spread, everyone rejoiced. Previously her mother had failed twice to conceive before giving birth to Mariela.

Growing up she spent most of her time learning to ride a horse and the many other things that a respectable noble lady should know. She has always been kept inside of Wendale Castle since she was born and has never travelled very far, even when her father has to in order to fulfil his duties as a lord. Sadly, she lost her mother due to an unknown illness when she was 13 years old and the death of her mother still pains her to this day.

Mariela grew up to be a kind and quiet girl who is loyal to her family. In her adult life, she spends her time overseeing the small things of running her home and teaching herself other vital skills such as wielding a knife/dagger if she should need it in self defence. She does, of course, also keep improving on her previous skills that she has learnt when she was younger, ones that are considered ladylike and others such as carrying a blade and fighting.

As there is no male heir to the Wendwater House, it will probably end with Mariela unless she is able to secure a place as the Lady of House Wendwater or secure a marriage to another house in order to provide heirs for the two married houses.

Extra details:

• Mariela is very loyal to the North and to her people in which surround and live on her family’s land. Although she is loyal to them she likes to try and read about different cultures than hers when she can so that she has a better understanding of the world.

• She was educated as any Northern lady was but of course it wasn’t the same education that the more notable houses have, like the Starks but she strived to be the best she could while being educated.

• Her favourite horse is her male Dappled Grey Hanoverian horse named Elrin.

• The knowledge of breeding horses and dogs was passed from House Wendwater to many other houses through Westeros.

• Being a smaller noble house, House Wendwater manages approximately 100 people or so on their lands.

• The reason why her house/family provide dogs and horses to other houses in Westeros is because they are small and so they are not completely rich enough to live as other houses do, like the Starks or Lannisters. So, in order to look after the lands and the people and ensure the people’s happiness, her house needs to produce and gain extra money from the dealings of the animals.
