A few of my positions include a 12-year to current on the Virginia Legal Aide Board and 10 years with Suffolk Redevelopment and Housing Authority. I served as vice chair of the Suffolk School Board and SRHA. I am a 1976 graduate of John F. Kennedy High School, and I earned my Bachelor's Degree in Social Work from Norfolk State University. My love for the City of Suffolk and commitment to improving our schools make me the best candidate to represent the Whaleyville Borough on the Suffolk School Board. Finally, I appreciate your vote of confidence on November 5, 2024 when you go the polls. Cast your VOTE for Thelma V. Hinton. My education and local government experience make me the best choice for an active voice to represent you.

Dear Friends, family, and constituents,

The stakes of local elections might not be as widely reflected in the media as in the Presidential Election, but local elections have REAL consequences. Whether it is the guarantee of healthy drinking water, the benefits of maintained streets and bridges, or equity, fairness, and accountability in our school systems, I am writing to express my strongest endorsement of Thelma V Hinton for the Suffolk Public School Board.  As an educator with 29 years of experience and 24 of those years at Nansemond River High School, I have witnessed Mrs. Hinton's unwavering commitment to our students, families, and staff.

From 2009 to 2012, Mrs. Hinton served on the Suffolk Public School Board, representing the Nansemond Borough and the school where I work. During her tenure, she consistently stood up for fairness, equity, and accountability, always leading from the bottom up rather than the top down. As the school board chairman from 2010 to 2012, Mrs. Hinton demonstrated exceptional integrity and the courage to stand up for what is right, even in the face of challenging decisions.

I can recount numerous instances where Mrs. Hinton advocated for the best interests of our community, never rushing to judgment but instead listening and considering all perspectives. Her experience and sound reasoning have been invaluable assets in navigating complex issues, such as the state's insistence on allowing boys to use the girls' restroom, which Mrs. Hinton firmly opposed.

I am honored to endorse Thelma V Hinton for the Suffolk School Board. Her dedication to our students, families, and staff and her commitment to stability and sound decision-making make her an exceptional candidate. I urge you to join me in supporting Mrs. Hinton's campaign and ensuring that our school district continues to be led by someone with integrity and vision.

Thank you for your time and consideration.

Sincerely,
Edward Woodis
