Pearl S. Buck was an American Writer born on June 26, 1892, in Hillsboro, West Virginia. Even though she was born in the United States, she spent most of her childhood in China. For college, she went back to the United States and studied at Randolph-Macon Woman's College in Lynchburg, Virginia, and graduated in 1914. After graduating, she moved back to China because her mother was gravely sick. Buck got married in 1917 and moved to Nanhsuchou in the rural Anhwei province, where she got the inspiration for her novels and, notably, her most popular book, "The Good Earth," published in 1931.
