SUNDAY'S

“A religion is a system of symbols which acts to establish powerful, pervasive, and long-lasting moods in men by formulating conceptions of a general order of existence and clothing those conceptions with such an aura of factuality that the moods and motivations seem uniquely realistic.”

12 Step Catholics / Catholic in Recovery

In the first book to directly integrate the Twelve Steps with the practice of Catholicism with compassionate straight talk to show Catholics how to bridge the commonly felt gap between the Higher Power of twelve-step programs and the merciful God that We rediscovered in the heart of the sacraments.

through Catholic in Recovery and The Twelve Steps and the Sacraments, Catholics in recovery candidly tackles the struggle We addicts have with getting to know intimately the unnamed Higher Power of recovery. We share stories of our compulsion to find a personal relationship with God and how our tentative steps back to the Catholic Church opened new doors of healing and brought us surprising joy as We came to Renown Christ in the sacraments.

Catholics in recovery and those moving toward it, as well as the people who love them will recognize Our stories and our spiritual struggle to personally encounter God. Catholic\s in recovery tells us how:

  • Baptism helps you admit powerlessness over an unmanageable problem, face your desperate need for God, and choose to believe in and submit to God’s mercy.

  • Reconciliation affirms and strengthens the hard work of examining your life, admitting wrongs, and making amends.

  • The Eucharist provides ongoing sustenance and draws you to the healing power of Christ.

  • The graces of Confirmation strengthen each person to keep moving forward and to share the good news of recovery and new life in Christ.

Catholics in recovery words are boldly challenging and brimming with compassion and through them you will discover inspiration, hope, sage advice, and refreshingly practical help.

This is a 12 STEP Family that supports its own. In fact, if you aren’t interested in investing your time and energy into others, this isn’t for you. We strongly believe that by empowering the individual members we grow stronger as a Family.

How many people live in poverty in the world? A Minimum of 10% of those living in poverty are living in active addiction.

Recent estimates for global poverty are that 9.2% of the world, or 689 million people, live in extreme poverty on $1.90 or less a day, according to the World Bank.

In the United States, 11.8% of the population or 38.1 million people, live in poverty — with an income of less than $33.26 per day — according to the 2018 census.

These numbers are calculated based on income and a person’s ability to meet basic needs. However, when looking beyond income to people experiencing deprivation in health, education, and living standards, 1.3 billion people in 107 developing countries are multidimensionally poor, according to a 2020 report by the U.N. Development Program.

Basic statistics about poverty in Canada

The following are statistics about the current reality of poverty in Canada.

  • 1 in 7 (or 4.9 million) people in Canada live in poverty.

  • In Edmonton, 1 in 8 individuals is currently living in poverty.

  • Poverty costs Canada billions of dollars annually.

  • Precarious employment has increased by nearly 50% over the past two decades.

  • Between 1980 and 2005, the average earnings among the least wealthy Canadians fell by 20%.

  • Over the past 25 years, Canada’s population has increased by 30% and yet annual national investment in housing has decreased by 46%.

  • The federal government's Poverty Reduction Strategy is already showing promising results in meeting Canada's commitment to reduce poverty by 20% by the year 2020. From 2015 to 2018, the overall poverty rate in Canada fell from 14.5% to 11% of people living under Canada's Official Poverty Line

atheist vs agnostic? It's possible to be both—an agnostic atheist doesn't believe but also doesn't think we can ever know whether a god exists. A gnostic atheist, on the other hand, believes with certainty that a god does not exist .
