The FroobWorld Times returns after a hiatus! Our website will be back up and running shortly.
An interview with DGTijmen
Joining in September of 2022, DGT has become one of the most memorable members of Froobworld. DGT is always willing to help and is NOT afraid to let nabs have a taste of the ban hammer.
When you joined Froobworld, what was the first thing that really inspired you?
I came back to Minecraft after having lost my motivation to play for a couple of months. When I joined the server, some friends from a previous server had already set up base and were in a pretty late-stage already. This meant I had some catching up to do. I originally moved in with Tim_Killer_09 to get my stuff started, but pretty soon after I /rtp’ed and started working on what I now still call my base.
Now, I’m a pretty competitive person, which meant that I didn’t just want to catch up to my friends, I wanted to surpass them. That’s when I decided to make my shop, continuing with the market stall theme that I had done for all my Minecraft shops so far. I had also made loads of farms to supply that shop with items, some of which are still there now.
During this time, my friends slowly stopped playing and the motivation to surpass them -which had long happened by then- disappeared. After a year of grinding +3h per day, I decided to slow down and focus on some other projects.
How do you expect Froobworld to change in the future?
As most players enter the later stages of the game, I suspect that players will find motivation to play in things other than doing this that benefit themselves. I think they will start projects involving other players and doing things that are more fun than functional.
An example of this would be a big minigame district or a megabase / town as a result of collaboration between multiple players. The more this happens, the more we’ll see players form actual friendships with players they might not have otherwise even talked to. Hopefully this would make the community more tight-knit, which I feel has lessened since the server got a lot bigger about a year ago.
What brought you onto Froobworld?
I was looking for something to do at the start of COVID-19, when my brother informed me about a Minecraft server he had recently joined called the Fungus SMP. After submitting an application, me and my 3 brothers all started playing on that server. All went well until the server owner suddenly disappeared and informed everyone that they would stop supporting the server.
After that some of the players started a new server called Candy Kingdom, but that only lasted about a year. Hopping from server to server, I mostly lost my motivation to play the game and stopped for about 6 months.
I mostly forgot about that server, until a bot congratulated someone for their birthday on the old discord server. I scrolled a little through the messages and saw that some of the players had joined a new server called Froobworld. With nothing else to do at the time, I decided to give it a go and I haven’t really stopped playing since.
Tell us about your most memorable Froobworld experience.
I’d say it was making making new oldspawn. I think I was playing with Metalic_Shield, when DiggyDav joined the game. I had never seen him on the server before, but I recognised the username from the top of the wool farm at old spawn. Turns out, he hadn’t played in a while so we went around spawn to see what had changed while he was gone. He noticed he had a pretty large area claim right next to the spawn stairs (to the east) that was left empty up until that point, so he wanted to do something with it.
I’m not sure who decided on it, but together with Metalic_Shield and DiggyDav we decided to build a new part of spawn in that area as the other part had become pretty cramped and disorganised. This meant excavating, landscaping and building roads and plots for new shops to be built on. We worked pretty closely together in the following month or so to complete the project. We were pretty proud of how it turned out in the end.
While both of them have since stopped playing, the district itself is still standing in its original state, however mostly abandoned due to spawn being moved for the 1.20 update.
Do you have future plans on Froobworld?
Unfortunately, my free time has become limited due to starting in university. As a result, I can only play during the weekends, that is if I’m not doing stuff for school. I do plan on staying on the server, but the limited playtime means that I probably wont take on any large projects in the meantime and will just be helping other players with their projects.
At the moment, I’m mostly helping Daisy with digging for her base and once that’s finished I’ll find something else to do.
Anything else you want to tell the Froobian Time's readers?
I’d just like to say that the server is one of the most friendly communities that you will come across in the game, so just play the game, have fun and don’t be a nab :)
