Hey everyone, I'm John. Fitness first began as something casual for me, simply a pastime that meant nothing more than hanging out with friends. Over time, however, my dad, a health freak, taught me more and more, allowing it to become a structured part of my routine. This site isn’t meant to present me as a coach or certified expert or fitness genius, but instead reflect what I’ve learned firsthand through showing up regularly, attempting different training styles, and overall gradually understanding what works for me.
Most of my experience comes from ordinary day to day training, specifically learning how to structure workouts and track progress while also balancing recovery. I’ve spent a lot of my free time researching and experimenting with different splits, exercises, and even nutrition, which allowed me to develop a clearer understanding of fundamentals such as proper form and sustainable habits. Through this process, I feel that I can connect more with other beginners who are also starting out, and feel they do not have access to reliable information that isn't just another “money grab”.
The purpose of this site is to share a realistic perspective on training from a normal college freshman, that emphasizes key values such as patience and discipline. I want it to show what goes on behind the scenes of all the videos in our feed, and also highlights the importance of other aspects other than just lifting weights. My intended audience includes people who are new to the gym, but I personally believe that anyone who visits this site will leave with more than they came in with. As I continue my training, I hope that this site will grow with me, serving as a personal archive and a place for others to explore genuine experience opposed to professional branding. This website serves as a way to document my knowledge of the gym, and share the concepts I've learned from years of training, through trial and error.
