Intention: The Exorcist is an undeniable classic, a nearly perfect film. What’s the point in fan editing it?

Well, much in the same vein of Blade Runner, the Star Wars Trilogy, and the Lord of the Rings Trilogy to name a few, there are two distinct versions of The Exorcist. I grew up with “The Director’s Cut,” and I’ve since grown attached to the additional scenes reinserted into the narrative, helping to shape characterization.

Change list:

• Included some much maligned, CGI additions that have not aged well in comparison to the film itself

• Removed the flashes of the demon from Regan’s first medical appointment

• Removed the prelude to the spider walk when Chris MacNeil is investigating her house.

• Removed the demonic face that Regan morphs into during her hypnotism

• Removed the flash of Father Karras’ mother in the curtains during the end of the exorcism.

• Excised he opening shots of the house and statue of Virgin Mary are excised

• Adjusted the footage to enhance contract and balance color tone to appear less green

• The Exorcist Director’s Cut serves as the primary source, while drawing on footage from the Theatrical Version to cover CGI additions.
