Synopsis: Millionaire philanthropist Bruce Wayne fights crime in Gotham City disguised as Batman, a costumed hero who strikes fear into the hearts of villains.
Intentions: I'm happy to offer Baliscon's Batman Noir fanedit, an attempt to achieve a more timeless experience inspired by the Golden Age of comic books.
I applied a heavy filter, desaturating most of the colors while keeping some faint red, green, and purple tones. My hope was for this to look less like a pulp comic and more like a colorized gothic horror. The edit is also offered in black and white.
Next, while I love Prince as a musician, his tracks offered to the film are incredibly dissonant compared to its overall tone. I replaced the music during Joker's museum riot with his Waltz, and I also replaced the parade score with Joker's Theme from Batman The Animated Series.
I also cut out ten minutes from the runtime, resulting in a 1 hour, 56 minute edit. I never found Knox to be an entertaining foil, so I cut some standout dialogue. I removed other elements that either haven't aged well or never fit in the first place, namely Bruce hanging upside down while sleeping, him telling Vicki to shut up before trying to reveal his alter ego, Vicki pretending to 'woo' Joker, and most importantly, Batman firing any guns or overtly murdering anyone. When he kicks the thug over the balcony in the final bell tower sequence, I cut the scene showing the thug falling down into the abyss, at least implying that he survived.
