Tim Anderson (or Timmy two bags as I like to call him) has turned a lot of heads this year, and surprisingly it is not because he is batting .334 in 2019 (leads the AL). Mr. Anderson is known this year for throwing his bat after hitting an absolute tank shot off of Brad Keller in the first few weeks of the season.
That is not what I am here to talk about though.
Im warning you now, there are a few bold statements ahead.
Timmy Two Bags is easily the most underrated player in the league. Like I said, he is batting .334 in 107 games in 446 plate appearances. He also has 16 home runs with 52 runs batted in and 16 stolen bases. Anderson has been knocked down by injuries this season which really slowed down his home run and stolen base numbers. With a full healthy season of nothing slowing him down, he would be an EASY 30/30 player.
Timmy’s only downside is that he swings a lot. He has 11 walks this year with 93 strikeouts. But who does not like a guy that is looking to hit the ball all the time. Be aggressive. I love it.
Now this is where it gets fun.
Why would Timmy not be in the conversation for AL MVP?
Yes, obviously there are players like Mike Trout and…. Well that’s kind of it. But let's take Trout out of the picture, as if he never existed. Your AL MVP candidates would be Alex Bregman, Rafael Devers, Mookie Betts and none other than Timmy Two Bags. You could also argue that Gerrit Cole and Justin Verlander but nonetheless, Anderson is still in the conversation.
So why will Timmy never win? well, because Mike Trout will be playing baseball for at least 12 more seasons. Mike Trout is the greatest player of our generation and is in the conversation for the greatest of all time. When your competition is that, you will not be winning many awards.
Next time you are watching the White Sox, pay attention to my guy Timmy. The kid can flat out ball.
