Classes are normally taught on the weekends between May and September.
The class is made up of 3 parts: academics (e-learning), pool diving, and checkout dives.
You can sign up for the Open Water e-learning through our dive instructor (divespotscuba@gmail.com).
We ask that this part of the training is complete before we start any diving.
Students tell us that it takes generally between 10-12 hours to complete.
The pool diving is where you learn your diving skills.
There are a total of 5 pool dives, which typically can be completed in one day.
You will also need to complete a Fitness for Diving Medical Questionnaire before beginning their pool sessions.
The 4 open water checkout dives are when you will demonstrate the skills you learned in the pool to your instructor.
It takes most of 2 days to complete the 4 dives.
Fee paid to The Dive Spot for the scheduled Open Water class with lake checkouts is $600.
The fee includes the last academic evaluation, pool, checkout, and the use of BC, Reg, tanks, and weights.
There are other costs for various items such as PADI materials and personal scuba gear (scuba quality mask, snorkel, fins, boots, and wetsuit).
Some of these items are available for purchase through The Dive Spot.
Prices vary with selection.
