INTRODUCTION:

A Year Filled With Little Steps and Big Discoveries

As we look back on this year, our hearts feel full. The classrooms have been alive with curiosity, laughter, and moments that reminded us why early childhood is such a precious stage. We watched children walk in shy, unsure, and sometimes holding tightly to their parents’ hands and today they appear confident, expressive, and eager to learn more.

Every day brought something new, a question that sparked interest, a smile that lifted our spirits, a challenge that turned into progress, and friendships that grew quietly but beautifully. These little steps made a big difference, and we are grateful to have been part of their journey.

Learning Highlights of the Year

Every day was a learning day — full of curiosity, questions, and wonderful discoveries.

Children explored early literacy, numeracy, science, and hands-on activities that brought concepts to life. Our Cambridge English Dinn & Linn sessions supported listening, speaking, and reading skills, while classroom centres encouraged children to experiment, observe, and think independently.

Moments of Joy

The best moments were the ones filled with smiles, laughter, and simple joys. From spontaneous giggles to warm friendships, the beauty of everyday kindergarten life shone through. These were the moments that reminded us how joyful learning can be.

A Language Rich Environment

Language development continued to be at the heart of our curriculum. Children engaged in phonics, vocabulary games, reading circles, and daily conversations that strengthened their understanding of all three languages whereas parents who are keen about Tamil had a chance to expose children to reading and writing opportunities in Tamil.

Beyond the Classroom

Learning continued outdoors

Our children had a meaningful and enjoyable outing during their recent field trip. The day began with an educational visit to the PJ Eco Recycling Plaza in Petaling Jaya, an initiative under the Petaling Jaya City Council (MBPJ). The children explored the 3R exhibition and learned how different types of waste are sorted, processed, and recycled. It was an eye-opening experience that strengthened their understanding of environmental responsibility in a practical and engaging way.

After the educational segment, the children continued their adventure at FunX World in Summit Mall. Here, they enjoyed exciting games and activities with their friends, allowing them to unwind, play, and build stronger friendships.

Overall, the field trip was a wonderful blend of learning and fun — a day that not only enriched their knowledge but also filled their hearts with joy and laughter.

Celebrating Together as a Community

At The City Kindergarten, our celebrations are always richer when our parents join in. Throughout the year, we have created meaningful moments where families and children come together to honour culture, creativity, and togetherness.

We also celebrated Mother’s Day and Father’s Day with heartfelt activities that reminded us of the love and strength families bring to our community. And our messy play sessions became a favourite, where parents happily joined their little ones to explore, experiment, and simply enjoy being present.

These moments reflect the spirit of our kindergarten—a place where children learn, families connect, and our community grows stronger together.

Strengthening Little Bodies

Healthy bodies, happy children

Our weekly Taekwondo classes gave children confidence, discipline, and agility. Sports Day and daily motor skill activities helped them build strength, coordination, and a love for movement.

Reduce, Reuse, Recycle Workshop

We held an engaging workshop on Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle, where children learned simple and practical ways to care for the environment. Through hands-on activities and creative discussions, they discovered how everyday items can be given a new life instead of being thrown away. The session helped our young learners understand the importance of making small, thoughtful choices that protect our planet. It was a meaningful and fun experience that encouraged them to become little eco-heroes in their homes

Teachers Who Make a Difference

Behind every happy classroom is a dedicated teacher with a big heart.

Our teachers poured love, time, and creativity into every lesson and every child. Professional development sessions, teamwork, and their commitment to each child’s growth made this year meaningful and successful.

The Deepavali Celebration

The Deepavali celebration was a vibrant and meaningful experience for everyone involved. The school came alive with colourful decorations, festive music, and an atmosphere of joy and togetherness. One of the highlights of the celebration was the children setting up their own stalls, where they proudly showcased items they had prepared or helped organise. Through this hands-on experience, the children learned the basics of entrepreneurship—such as communication, teamwork, decision-making, and the value of effort—while confidently interacting with parents and friends.

Parents played an active role in the celebration by participating in lively and engaging activities alongside their children. These shared experiences strengthened the bond between parents and children and created moments of laughter, cooperation, and mutual learning. The event truly reflected the spirit of Deepavali—celebrating light, learning, and community—leaving everyone with warm memories and a deeper appreciation for creativity, collaboration, and cultural values.

Reaching Out with Kindness

Community service is an important part of our yearly activities at The City Kindergarten, as we believe in nurturing compassion, empathy, and social responsibility from a young age. This year, the proceeds from our Inaya Bazar were used to arrange a delicious lunch for the residents of Pertubuhan Kebajikan Lindungan Ikhlas, Setapak.

It was a meaningful experience for our children to see how their efforts during the Deepavali bazaar could bring comfort and happiness to others. Acts like these help our young learners understand the value of giving back, strengthening the spirit of kindness within our school community.

Annual Sports Fiesta

The City Kindergarten held a lively and joy-filled Sports Day, bringing together our children, teachers, and families for a morning of energy and teamwork. The children participated with great enthusiasm, cheering for their friends and giving their best in every event. It was wonderful to see their confidence, cooperation, and sportsmanship shine through.

We are grateful to our teachers for their dedication in organizing the activities and to our parents for their wholehearted support. Moments like these remind us how meaningful it is to watch our children grow, play, and discover their strengths.

Hari Raya Celebration

As part of the Hari Raya celebration, parents had the opportunity to learn and practise the art of batik painting, immersing themselves in one of Malaysia’s most treasured cultural traditions. With brushes in hand and vibrant colours flowing onto fabric, parents explored traditional motifs while expressing their own creativity. The session was filled with warmth, laughter, and a shared sense of pride, beautifully reflecting the spirit of Hari Raya—togetherness, gratitude, and unity—while celebrating the rich multicultural heritage of Malaysia.

A Strong Foundation in Faith and Values

Our Agama programme is thoughtfully structured to guide children in understanding the core principles of their faith. Through lessons on doa, seerah, and aqidah, children learn not only religious knowledge but also the values that shape good character, kindness, and respect.

We celebrate Muslim festivals with dignity and honour, helping children appreciate the meaning behind each occasion and the lessons it brings—gratitude during Ramadan, compassion during Eid, and the importance of community throughout the year. Through storytelling, hands-on activities, and guided discussions, children develop a deeper sense of identity and belonging.

Our aim is to nurture young hearts with strong moral grounding, spiritual awareness, and the confidence to carry these values into their daily lives.

Celebrating National Spirit in Style

Our Merdeka celebration was filled with colour, music, and pride as the children embraced the national spirit with great enthusiasm. Dressed beautifully in Merdeka-themed colours, they walked the ramp with confidence, showcasing their vibrant DIY outfits created with so much creativity at home. The most outstanding designs were acknowledged, adding a touch of excitement to the day.The celebration continued with lively national songs, a fun Merdeka Quiz, and activities that helped children learn more about our country’s heritage in an engaging way. It was a joyful and meaningful day that brought together unity, learning, and the spirit of Malaysia.

Discovering Talents, Building Character

Our After-School Enrichment Programme offers children a range of meaningful experiences that help them explore their interests and develop well-rounded personalities. With activities such as Mandarin, Al-Quran, Football, Yoga, and Drama Club, children are given opportunities to learn new skills, build confidence, and express themselves in different ways.

Mandarin and Al-Quran classes strengthen language, comprehension, and focus. Football encourages teamwork, discipline, and physical strength. Yoga supports mindfulness, balance, and emotional regulation. Drama Club nurtures creativity, communication, and self-expression. Together, these activities open doors for children to explore their talents and grow in a supportive environment.

Each session is thoughtfully designed to help children gain confidence, build friendships, and enjoy learning beyond the classroom.

A Celebration of Talent and Milestones

The Annual Concert and Graduation Ceremony at The City Kindergarten was a spectacular celebration of our children’s creativity, energy, and growth. The performances were a lively display of acting and dancing skills, with every child shining on stage and bringing joy to parents and teachers alike.

This special day also honored our graduates, marking their journey and achievements over the year. It was a proud moment as they took the spotlight, confident and ready for the next chapter in their learning journey. The event was filled with laughter, applause, and heartfelt memories—a true celebration of talent and milestones .

Growing Together

As the year comes to a close, we look back with gratitude and forward with hope. The children have grown beautifully — academically, socially, emotionally, and in confidence. Every achievement, whether big or small, has made this year meaningful and memorable. Their smiles, curiosity, and little milestones have filled our days with joy.

This has been a year shaped by dedication, teamwork, and the shared spirit of learning within our school community. As we step into a new year, we carry the promise of creating even richer learning experiences, nurturing every child with care, and continuing to provide an environment where they can thrive.
