Dry Lining
Dry lining shall provide an adequate substrate for the decorative finish. Dry lining shall be installed in accordance with British Gypsum White Book and NHBC Standards.
Fixing plasterboards with 36mm plaster screws at 300mm centres for walls and 230mm for ceiling.
Fixings should be 10mm in from the edge of plasterboard.
Ensure screws do not penetrate plasterboard paper.
12.5mm plasterboard require 3 rows of dab at 300mm centres.
Dab applied at the ceiling area need to be 100mm down from the ceiling.
Continuous dab is required to perimeters and corners.
Ribboned dab is required around reveals.
Around doors, straight joints following jamb must be avoided.
Penetration through the plasterboards such as pipes and electrical back boxes should be measured and cut neatly and squarely to avoid patching.
Plasterboard should run behind stair strings by around 25mm to reduce shrinkage cracks in this area.
Ensure areas where finishing and decorating can be difficult such as at newel post returns are detailed neatly.
Protect installed furniture such as shower trays and window boards prior to dry lining works being undertaken.
Moisture resistant board to be used in wet room areas.
Tile backing boards should be used in showers.
Ensure the correct plasterboard is used in the correct areas
White – standard plasterboard
Green – moisture plasterboard
Yellow – tile backing plasterboard
Blue – sound plasterboard
Pink – fire plasterboard
