Extractor Fans

Extract ductwork to intermittent and continuously running mechanical extract ventilation systems shall ensure satisfactory performance and durability. Extract fans size and performance shall be in accordance with the design and Part F of the Building Regulations.

  • 100mm solid ducting for extract fan built during the construction of the superstructure.

  • Ducting must have a slight fall to the outside to prevent moisture entering the building.

  • Cavity tray placed above opening.

  • Solid ducting for extractor fans running through joists should be installed at the same time as the floor joists.

  • Use solid ducting where possible.

  • Connections between solid and flexible ducting taped and sealed with a jubilee clip.

  • Ducting supported in roof spaces using timber.

  • Insulated ducting must be used in cold roof spaces.

  • Ducting connected to ventilation tiles elephant trunk using a jubilee clip.

  • Ensure external ventilation grills are install straight, level and flush to the brickwork.

  • Securely fixed in accordance with the manufacturer’s installation instruction.
