Section 7.2.11
Fire Stopping
Pitched roofs shall be constructed to provide adequate fire resistance and separation. Firestopping should be provided in accordance with approved design and manufacturers installation instruction.
Ensure all work completed is in accordance with the design, the Building Regulation and NHBC Standards.
Before roof covering work commences, ensure cavity is closed off at the top.
Cavity barriers must be placed between the last course of external masonry and the internal skin.
The cavity barriers must extend along the pitch of the gable.
ARC fire protection provided in the eaves. Ensure manufacturer’s instructions are followed.
Ensure all air gaps between properties are closed off.
Fire stopping over the party wall should be noticeable once underlay and battens have been installed.
ARC party wall fire stopping should be provided over party walls/spandrel panels.
Alternatively, fire resisting insulation can perform this function.
Fire stopping must extend 10mm above the top of the truss to allow for compression from the roof battens.
Fire stopping over the party wall should be noticeable once underlay and battens have been installed.
Fire resisting insulation provided between the roof battens underneath the tiles.
This must be of sufficient thickness to allow for a minimum of 10mm compression of material against the tile at the highest point.
