Windows - Fixing
Windows shall be correctly located within the opening, with equally spaced margins against the structure and securely fixed.
Window frame straps fixed to block work using plug and screw.
Straps should be installed with a fall to the external.
Fitted within 150mm of the top and bottom and at a maximum 600mm centres.
Windows should be fitted centrally to the opening and packed out equally to all sides.
Seal around window and cavity closer to help prevent air leakage.
Window board securely fitted level with equally sized overhangs either side of the opening.
Window board must be protected.
Ensure that the area below the window board is sealed to prevent air leakage.
Insulated VDPC (vertical damp proof course) installed to bay window.
Foil insulation provided at the head of the window to prevent thermal bridging.
Cavity closer mitre at the corner to provide continuation of the thermal break, the fire rating provided and to help prevent moisture ingress.
Windows should be fitted level and square.
Each window must be fixed the same distance off the internal block work.
Extra-long fixing straps should be used to extend onto the internal blockwork to avoid puncturing the VDPC.
Seal around window and cavity closer to help achieve a successful air test.
Window board securely fitted level with equal overhang of the block work throughout the bay window.
Window board protection to be provided.
Ensure that underneath the window board is sealed to prevent air leakage.
