During construction and completion, staircases, handrails and guarding must be protected to prevent damage.
Staircases and newel posts must be protected from follow on trades work from the moment they are installed.
Ridged stair tread protectors should be provided to the steps.
Proprietary newel post protection or 150mm drainage pipe should be provided to prevent damage.
Once installed and decorated, the softer newel post protection should be provided.
U profile protection should be provided to handrails.
