Timber Floor Decking
Holes created within the web of joists are a necessity to allow the passing of services and notching and drilling shall be carried out within the recognised limits. The flange of I-joist not be notched or drilled under any circumstance.
D4 glue applied to the top of the joists and perimeter noggins.
First board to be laid on to one continuous 6mm bead of adhesive.
Panels should be fixed at the perimeter, using annular ringshank nails or screws at 200mm-300mm centres.
Follow design for setting out process.
Lay perimeter boards to a line to ensure a correct expansion gap is maintained.
D4 adhesive applied generously into the groove of the chip board.
Liberal amount of adhesive applied to the top of the tongue.
Boards laid to a brick bond pattern.
Ensure an appropriately sized timber is used to shunt the boards into position to prevent damage to the board.
Excess adhesive should be left to dry.
D4 adhesive is not to be used as a gap filler.
Protect the edge of the board and any exposed nails with D4 adhesive.
The excess glue can be scraped off after the building becomes water tight.
Ensure expansion gap to rigid upstands are a minimum of 10mm.
Add an additional 2mm per meter for lengths over 5m.
Unsupported perimeter edges and short end joints should be supported by a noggin.
