Fire Resistance

Internal walls including party walls shall control and resist the spread of smoke and fire in line with prevailing Building Regulations. Areas to be taken into account include materials, cavity barriers, fire stops and services passing through the internal wall.

  • Door width measured to fit door, door frame and appropriate door margin.

  • C-track to be turned up by a minimum of 300mm for fire doors.

  • Arc T-junction cavity barrier, tightly fitted.

  • Ensure the cavity barrier is installed continuously and to the manufacturer’s installation guide.

  • Masonry block work extended 450mm above the ceiling line.

  • Cavity barrier installed before the installation of the spandrel panel.

  • British Gypsum typical deflection head detail for protected hallways.

  • Check the specific detail for your site before progressing.

  • Ensure Gyproc FireStrip is applied to the deflection head before fixing into position.

  • 25mm downward deflection only, with a minimum 20mm engagement.

  • Stud cut short to allow for deflection.

  • Ensure that a dropped soffit is formed at the head channel to maintain the fire-rated performance of the partition.
