Wall Tiles

Wall ties play a fundamental part of the structure of a property. Consideration for the correct type to be used in the correct location, the position in which they are placed and spandrel panels.

  • Ties to bed 50mm into each leaf.

  • Drip to be in the centre of the cavity.

  • Positioned that the drip faces down.

  • Clean off mortar droppings.

  • Ties to be level or falling slightly to the external leaf.

  • Ties space within 225mm of the movement joint.

  • Not more than 300mm vertically, usually 225mm in block work.

  • Spacing would normally be 225mm when in block work.

  • Bed reinforcement can be used to bond party wall to the external structure.

  • Wall ties can be used as an alternative.

  • These should be set 225mm intervals.

  • Retaining clips to hold the insulation tight against the inner skin.

  • Be placed along the horizontal joint.
