Lateral Restraints

Restraint straps suitable for taking tensile force is required, tying walls to upper floors and roofs providing a critical function to the structural integrity of a property.

  • The carpenters should fit the restraint strap at the ceiling binder to suit the block work.

  • Ensure restraint strap return fits tightly to the back of the block.

  • The block should fit tightly to the perimeter noggin.

  • Ensure the blockwork at the gables fall in line with the restraint straps.

  • Wind post should be positioned and installed as per the structural design.

  • Wind post needs to be fitted tightly against the internal block work.

  • Insulation tightly abutted to the wind post.
