Paving

Appropriate access shall be provided to and around the property, considering drainage, width and minimum sub-base thickness.

  • Minimum dimensions of paving around the property dependant on location and use.

  • Paving set at 150mm below DPC with a suitable cross fall of 1:40.

  • Gravel strip along the side of property to reduce splash.

  • Paving should be laid tightly abutted with consistent surface levels.

  • The sub-base comprising of a 100mm thickness of clean, consolidated crushed hardcore (maximum size 75mm) finished with Blinding.

  • Paving slab bedded fully in 25mm 1:4 cement: sand mortar or suitable alternative.

  • Patios formed 150mm below DPC.

  • Recessed drain covers used with block paving.

  • Coursing should be consistent with block paving.

  • Where paving slabs are laid abutting drainage channels and gully grates, etc., the upper surface of the paving slab should be set approximately 5mm above the drainage.

  • Steps in garden areas (not to the principle entrance for Part M) should have risers no greater than 220mm.
