Garden Walls

Freestanding walls shall be adequate for their intended use. Walls shall be located and constructed in accordance with Bloor Homes design.

  • Garden walls should be built in English garden bond with a returned brick every 5th course.

  • Foundations for garden walls must be inspected by the site team prior to concreting and be in accordance with the design.

  • Wall capping must be formed with 2 courses of clay plain/rosemary tiles.

  • Tile lugs facing down throughout length of both elevation on the bottom course.

  • Top course of tiles with the tails showing on both elevations.

  • The feature capping is then finished off with a soldier course of bricks.

  • All must be finished with neat pointing and clean bricks and creasing tiles.

  • Walls built to sloping grounds built to the same design and follow the gradient of the ground.

  • Garden walls on sloping ground will have an element of retention and the engineered design must be followed.

  • Curved walls must follow the same design and have a consistent circumference.

  • On sharper curves use half bricks between the pillars to prevent shadowing of the brickwork.
