Ways Mattress Can Make You Invincible
When it comes to purchasing a new mattress, the choice of different types can be overwhelming at first glance. Of course, every manufacturer of their product claims that it offers the best possible nighttime recovery, but such an investment in a product that spends much of their everyday lives should be well considered. This article explains all the mattress types related to the respective advantages and disadvantages and should help you step by step to find the right product.
The first thing you need to know about mattresses is that there are three common types of mattress designs: spring mattresses, cold foam mattresses, and latex mattresses according to thebest-mattress. Each of these has different characteristics in terms of service life, price and maintenance.
1. Choose among the different types of mattresses
This is the classic, a time-tested mattress construction. The main mattress is supported by metal springs, which are integrated in the mattress. These feathers distribute the body weight over the surface of the mattress. There are many different variations, but they all have the same basic principle. A well maintained quality spring mattress should last between seven and ten years.
Spring mattress: advantages
· Least expensive mattress option
· Many brands and designs to choose from
· Lightest mattress
· An applied foam pad can give the feeling of resting on an expensive foam mattress
· Spring mattress: disadvantages
· The springs can break or bump through the mattress
· The mattress can be worn or uneven
· Clings less well to the body than a cold foam mattress
b) Cold foam mattress
Foam is a high-density polyurethane fabric designed by NASA as upholstery. He carries the name through his ability to form and then return to its original form once pressure is removed. The foam reacts to body heat and can store it well. A big advantage is the low weight, the high supporting power of the core and the long service life.
Cold foam mattress: advantages
· High adaptability
· Very quiet
· Barely cools
· Very hygienic, especially suitable for allergy sufferers
· High heat insulation
· Cold foam mattress: disadvantages
· Promotes night sweat through its thermal insulation
· easily inflammable
c) latex mattress
Latex mattresses are a good solution, especially for allergy sufferers, as no house dust mites can nest in them. The sweat-resistant nature of such a mattress completes the optimal hygiene and is therefore recommended for people who sweat easily. If you have removed the cover of a latex mattress, it is easy to clean with a cloth. Latex mattresses provide a comfortable feeling and offer the highest point elasticity. The only downside is the relatively high price.
Latex mattress: advantages
· Optimal hygiene
· Comfortable to clean
· sweat resistant
· Back-gentle sleep
· Latex mattress: disadvantages
· high purchase price
2. Select the degree of hardness of the mattress
Most manufacturers divide their mattresses into certain levels of hardness, which is not subject to any standard and therefore this decision criterion is very relative. Nevertheless, the degree of hardness can be assigned to a corresponding body weight to provide some guidance. The number of stages differs from manufacturer to manufacturer, in our example we determine it with three different degrees of hardness: H1 corresponds to a soft, H2 to a medium hard and H3 to a hard mattress.
· H1: Up to about 60 kg body weight
· H2: Up to about 80 kg body weight
· H3: over 80 kg body weight
Of course, you can choose a hard mattress with a body weight of less than 80 kg, if you like to lie down, or in reverse with over 80 kg body weight choose a soft mattress, in the latter case, the life of the mattress is greatly reduced.
Unfortunately, as already mentioned, there are no uniform standards at this point so that the manufacturers can specify the design and specification of the degrees of hardness very individually. So it may be that you do not meet with a mattress on three different degrees of hardness levels, but the classification is done suddenly in five different stages. Therefore, it is not absurd when buying a mattress to do it outside the WWW and to visit a specialist mattress store to find a mattress that suits your individual preferences.
2. Choose the right size
When buying a mattress, you should make sure that the new mattress fits perfectly to your own body size in addition to the two criteria mentioned above. A basic formula says that a mattress should be at least 20 cm longer than your own height. The standard dimensions of a mattress are 140 x 200 cm, and also over-lengths of 210-210 cm enjoy increasing popularity.
While single beds should not generally fall below the width of 100 cm, double beds are recommended for a width of at least 160 cm. These measures should be undercut only in exceptional cases, such as people with small stature.
3. Select by sleeping position
Based on the article on the 5 most common sleep positions, the situation during sleep also plays an important role, as they place different demands on a mattress. We distinguish here between back sleepers, belly sleepers and of course side sleepers.
a) Back sleepers: When sleeping on the back of the lumbar spine area is particularly stressed, which can lead to a wrong choice of mattress that the spine does not relax properly? A high point elasticity is not in the foreground with back sleepers, whereby a simple cold foam mattress is probably the best choice.
b) Abdominal dormouse: If the mattress is too soft, there is the danger of a hollow dome formation as a dormouse. Since here too a point elasticity is rather negligible, a common cold foam mattress or spring mattress with an increased degree of hardness is also suitable for a construction worker. The head should not be too high, otherwise neck and back problems can occur.
c) Side sleepers : Our favorite sleeping position is the most natural but at the same time the most demanding sleeping position, as the shoulder area and the hips should sink into the mattress while the waist has to be supported. This should pay attention to a high point elasticity, which is particularly the case with latex mattresses.
4. The matching slatted frame
Even the best mattress cannot provide a restful sleep when the slatted frame sags or generally has no supportive effect. However, it also depends on the type of mattress, which type of slatted base is to choose. So while spring mattresses, for example, the individual slats can be quiet further apart, the distance should be rather low for latex mattresses.
Last but not least, this criterion when buying mattresses shows that you should rather be advised by a trained expert and if possible the mattress with bed and slatted frame should try before you decide to buy one.
