DIRECTOR'S STATEMENT
Santa Ana may change, but the history and the memories shared in this community will always stay the same, and that's what we want to keep. When I was little, I was so excited listening to the stories of simplicity, elegance, happiness, sorrows, and love in Santa Ana that my elders shared. Always with details, lessons, and laughs, My elders have been my favorite storytellers since.
Santa Ana was unique in a way. It has not only tangible heritage, but also intangible ones. I was thankful for being born and raised there, as I could discover our history. Capturing my beloved hometown through the lens of my imaginary camera was my favorite habit as a child. Now, together with my team and with the help of kind people passionate about preserving heritage, we were able to make our documentary film as a testament to the resilience and creativity of the people of Santa Ana, and as a tribute to their rich cultural heritage that deserves to be celebrated and cherished for generations to come.
As archivists, we believe that it's essential for the younger generation to know about the history of their place for them to know their roots and identity. As a resident of Santa Ana and part of today's generation, I want to keep learning to help preserve and continue sharing knowledge about our heritage. As a storyteller, I am honored to have an opportunity to tell the story of the people of Santa Ana Manila and our rich cultural heritage.
