This site documents what I've learned so far about Agile values and practices as applied to the Biotech space. Please check the Resources tab to see and read about my work!
Think about it. We've worked for years to optimize biotechnology practices, processes, and techniques. Why not empower the people on laboratory teams to work together more effectively too? I envision a world where scientific teams and researchers are engaged not only in the incredible (often life-saving) research they perform, but also interested in better engaging with one another to work with a mindset of continuous process and product improvement.
I'm Kendra West, an Agile laboratory enthusiast and experienced Agile Coach in scientific R&D. While I presently work as an Agile coach, my career started at the lab bench! I worked for six years in contract drug discovery research, high-throughput genomic sequencing, and infectious disease research. Among my laboratory experiences, I was introduced to Lean Process Improvement, and eventually Agile Software development. From the first conversation I had about the Agile values and practices, I've been deeply motivated to learn more about these ideas and share them with my scientific colleagues in order to enhance teams working in the Biotech and R&D space. I think of myself today as a "People Scientist" and am interested in exploring the science behind high-performing teams to modernize the way that we do work.
