• The Voice Duo True — biggest strength: a translucent magnetic charging case with an LCD screen that shows live battery status, plus auto-pairing and auto on/off when you lift the buds out or drop them back in.
• The Voice Duo True — biggest trade-off: no active noise cancellation and no water-resistance rating, so noisy commutes and sweaty workouts aren't its natural home.
• SoundMAGIC T80BT — biggest strength: hybrid active noise cancellation rated to -38dB, with the same sound signature whether ANC is on or off, and six microphones for calls.
• SoundMAGIC T80BT — biggest trade-off: it's a more involved earbud — four modes to learn, touch controls to master, and ANC trims single-charge runtime from about 5 hours to about 4.
• Who The Voice Duo True is for: someone who wants fuss-free Bluetooth audio, a visible battery readout and voice-assistant taps without thinking about it.
• Who SoundMAGIC T80BT is for: someone who commutes, flies, works in an open office or games, and wants to block the world out.
The Voice Duo True is built around one idea: remove friction. Bluetooth 5, a 10-metre wireless range, auto-pairing that reconnects to your last device the moment the buds wake up, and auto on/off that puts them to sleep in the case and revives them when you take them out. You don't press anything to start listening. For a lot of people that alone is the feature they'll use every single day.
The headline hardware is that translucent magnetic charging case with an LCD screen showing live battery status. In practice, this kills the classic earbud guesswork — you glance at the case instead of poking your phone to see whether you're about to run out. The sheet quotes up to 20 hours of playtime on a single charge, split as roughly 4 hours in the buds plus 16 more from the case, with a full recharge in about 2 hours over the included USB cord. Everything lives in a case measuring about 2x2 inches, and the whole kit weighs around 1.5 ounces, so it disappears into a pocket, backpack or purse.
Audio is a dynamic driver covering 20 Hz to 20,000 Hz — the standard full-range window — with rounded-tip in-ear buds in black plastic. There's a built-in microphone for hands-free calls, and a short double-tap on the touchpad wakes Siri or Google Assistant for weather, time or music. Android and iOS both work. The warranty is 90 days.
SoundMAGIC T80BT: Who It's For
The SoundMAGIC T80BT is the more ambitious pair. Its centerpiece is hybrid active noise cancellation rated to -38dB, tuned to cut low-frequency continuous sound — air conditioning hum, traffic drone, engine noise — without the pressurized, stuffed-up feeling some ANC earbuds create. That's the whole pitch: quiet that still feels comfortable.
The second thing worth knowing is that SoundMAGIC states the sound performance doesn't change when you toggle ANC on or off. That matters, because on plenty of ANC earbuds the bass and clarity shift the moment you engage the mode. Here you're told to expect full vocals, layered instrument detail and low end that's punchy without turning muddy in both states. The driver is a 13 mm dynamic unit with 34 ohm impedance, a 20 Hz to 22,000 Hz range and 32 ms audio latency.
Four modes cover real situations: ANC for commuting, flights and offices; Ambient Transparency so you can hear what's around you without removing the buds; Normal Bluetooth for long quiet listening, which also stretches battery life; and a Low-Latency Game mode. Battery is quoted at about 5 hours per charge in Normal mode and about 4 hours with ANC on, with roughly 25 hours total from the charging case — which is wireless, holds 450 mAh, and recharges in about 2 hours. Bluetooth is 5.3, range 10 metres, and dual pairing lets it hold two devices at once.
Calls get serious attention: three microphones per side, six total, paired with CVC noise-reduction processing to pull your voice out of street, subway or open-office noise. The buds are IPX5 water resistant, weigh 41.1 g together, and come in blue ABS with a one-year warranty.
Side-by-Side: Which Should You Choose?
• Best for noise cancellation → SoundMAGIC T80BT. -38dB hybrid ANC is a real, specified feature; The Voice Duo True lists none.
• Best for call clarity in loud places → SoundMAGIC T80BT. Six microphones with CVC processing versus a single built-in mic.
• Best for battery visibility → The Voice Duo True. The LCD screen on the case shows live battery status; you never have to guess.
• Best for total playtime → SoundMAGIC T80BT, on paper: about 25 hours with the case versus up to 20 on The Voice Duo True.
• Best for effortless daily use → The Voice Duo True. Auto-pairing plus auto on/off means zero button presses to start listening.
• Best for workouts and weather → SoundMAGIC T80BT. IPX5 water resistance; The Voice Duo True has no such rating.
• Best for gaming and video → SoundMAGIC T80BT. A dedicated low-latency mode and 32 ms latency figure.
• Best for hooking up two devices at once → SoundMAGIC T80BT. Seamless dual pairing; The Voice Duo True reconnects to one remembered device.
• Best for a lighter, pocket-friendly kit → The Voice Duo True at roughly 1.5 ounces total versus 41.1 g for the T80BT buds alone.
In my opinion, SoundMAGIC T80BT is the pair I'd buy for myself, because the -38dB ANC, six-mic call setup, IPX5 rating and low-latency mode cover more of what I actually do — commute, take calls, watch video. The Voice Duo True is the better pick if your priority is simplicity: pull them out, they connect, and the case tells you how much charge is left. Neither is "better" in the abstract; they're aimed at different buyers. If you're only ever listening in quiet rooms, save yourself the mode-switching and take The Voice Duo True. If you want the world to go quiet, take the T80BT.
Open your device's Bluetooth settings and select the earbuds. The Voice Duo True auto-pairs and reconnects to its last device when switched on; SoundMAGIC T80BT uses Bluetooth 5.3 and supports dual pairing, so it can stay linked to two devices.
With The Voice Duo True you mostly don't — they wake when removed from the case and sleep inside it. The T80BT uses touch controls, which also switch between ANC, Ambient Transparency, Normal Bluetooth and Low-Latency Game modes.
Both recharge from their cases. The Voice Duo True uses magnetic charging and an included USB cord, reaching full power in about 2 hours for up to 20 hours of playtime. The T80BT case is wireless, holds 450 mAh, and also refills in about 2 hours.
The Voice Duo True has a built-in mic and a double-tap shortcut for Siri or Google Assistant. The T80BT uses three microphones per side with CVC noise reduction for calls in noisy places, but its sheet doesn't list a voice-assistant shortcut.
