The Third Order
The Third Order
The Third Order is a mature, literate roleplay set in the Harry Potter universe, 20 years after the Battle of Hogwarts. The story begins with the resurrection of Bellatrix Lestrange, brought back to life through the dark magic of her own Horcrux. Once again a powerful and dangerous figure, Bellatrix returns to a world that has moved forward, but remains forever scarred by the shadows of the past. With a thirst to continue Voldemort’s twisted legacy—and perhaps exceed it—she sets a course to upend the fragile peace of the wizarding world, leaving chaos in her wake.
The Third Order is not affiliated with J.K. Rowling and does not support her views. Our focus is on creating an inclusive and welcoming space for all, where the magic of the Harry Potter universe lives on through collaboration and shared storytelling.
Rules
UNDERSTANDING THE VERSE. Before diving in, take some time to familiarize yourself with the available lore, group guidelines, and character bios. Don’t worry about memorizing everything—these resources will remain accessible for future reference. It’s simply helpful to have a basic understanding of the world and the characters you’ll be writing with.
CANON CHARACTERS. Canon characters are essential to the Harry Potter universe, and we encourage writers to explore their depths while adhering to the following guidelines:
Canon events must remain intact. Major life events—such as births, deaths, and marriages—cannot be altered. For example:
Fred Weasley’s death during the Battle of Hogwarts is canon and must remain so.
Hermione Granger is married to Ron Weasley with two children, Rose and Hugo.
Sirius Black’s death in Order of the Phoenix cannot be undone.
Canon-divergence is allowed in terms of career paths or other personal developments, provided they stay true to established character traits and relationships. For instance, Ginny Weasley might pursue a career outside Quidditch but remains married to Harry Potter with three children, James, Albus, and Lily.
Unconventional interpretations or storylines must be approved by the admin to ensure they align with the group’s vision.
Relationships and family dynamics already established in canon must remain consistent.
ORIGINAL CHARACTERS. We encourage OCs to enhance the depth of our world, but please follow these guidelines:
OCs cannot be direct siblings of major characters (e.g., Harry Potter, Hermione Granger, or Draco Malfoy). However, siblings of minor characters (e.g., Katie Bell, Dean Thomas, or Millicent Bulstrode) are allowed.
OCs should have backstories that fit naturally into the Harry Potter universe, adding to the narrative without overshadowing established events.
To create an OC as a child or close relative of a canon character already written within the group, permission from that character’s writer must be obtained through the admin.
INCLUSIVITY. The Third Order is an LGBTQ+ and minority-inclusive group. Discrimination of any kind—against race, religion, sexual orientation, or gender—will result in immediate removal.
NO OOC DRAMA. While we love in-character drama, personal disputes must remain outside the group. We aim to foster a welcoming and respectful community.
18+ ONLY. This group features mature themes. Do not join if you are uncomfortable with this.
NO GODMODDING. Control only your own character; do not dictate the actions of others without consent.
NO MARY SUES. Characters should be well-rounded, with flaws and strengths. Unrealistic or overly perfect characters will require adjustments or be declined.
GROUP STORYLINE INTEGRITY. The Third Order allows flexibility while maintaining a cohesive storyline.
You do not need to create a separate account solely for group interactions.
Interactions with non-group members are allowed, but when interacting with group members, it is assumed to be part of the group’s storyline.
Do not write the group’s storyline with accounts outside the group.
WE ARE A LITERATE ROLEPLAY. Threads should reflect a focus on character development and relationship exploration. Para-threads must meet a 5-post minimum, with proper spelling and grammar. This does not apply to banter or gif chats.
MAJOR PLOTS. Admin approval is required for major events such as rule-breaking, violence, or deaths. Decisions impacting multiple characters must involve all parties and align with the group’s tone and realism.
CREATIVE MEDIA. We encourage members to create mood boards, playlists, graphics, and other content inspired by their characters. Submit any media to the admin for reposting in the group thread to showcase your work and maintain a shared directory.
ACTIVITY CHECKS.
Members must be active at least once a week. Inactivity without notice will result in a warning after 7 days. Continued inactivity may lead to unfollowing.
Communication is key. Notify us if you need extra time or a hiatus.
HIATUSES. We understand life happens. If you need a hiatus, semi-hiatus, or an extended absence, let us know so we can work with you to maintain your place in the group. Clear communication ensures we can support you while maintaining the storyline.
