29 journalists from the University of Saint Anthony Senior High School Department accompanied by other journalists that represented the university bagged the overall champion award for the recently concluded 2024 Division Schools Press Conference (DSPC).
Held last March 5 to 7, 2024, at Iriga Central School, USANT Journalists secured the spot after taking 11 major and 6 minor awards in multiple categories, proving to dominate the Iriga journalism circuit consistently.
Jascyl Jee H. Sayson and Hezekiah Lei O. Serdan, notched the first place for their events; Editorial Cartooning Filipino and Column Writing Filipino, respectively.
Sayson and Serdan are qualified to the regional level along with Alaissa Angela N. Nolasco, who placed second for News Writing Filipino.
For the group events, the Collaborative and Desktop Publishing team for both English and Filipino aced the event, being the representative group of the city for the regionals.
The english team is composed of Josiah Nathaniel Camila, Angeline Guevarra, Marian Janel Palos, Ma. Bettina Kaye Pasion, Christian James Monta, Kae Anne Bello, and Angela Sofia Agbanlog. Consequently, Kyle Denise Barbonio, Andrea Bianca Curativo, Anne Ezra Ibias, Shekinah Psalm Tud, Franchezka Lyann Deris, Simoun Verrell Gedaca, and Allana Yzabelle Gabarda were the members for the Filipino team.
Also qualifying for the regionals after dominating Online Publishing English are Allysa Bianca Guinoo, Euji Gabriel Nueva, Gia Margarette Olea, Dave Christopher Oliva, and Claire Ashley Malate.
The following individuals collectively achieved remarkable success in Radio Broadcasting and Scriptwriting (English), winning 1st Place awards in Best in Infomercial, Best in Technical Application, Best in Script, and Overall Radio Production: Pia Belle B. Veras (who also secured 1st Place as Best News Presenter), Marianne Kaye V. Babol (2nd Place – Best News Presenter), Jheanne Ehrico B. Adan (1st Place – Best Anchor), Denise C. Acuña (2nd Place – Best Anchor), Jaden Zachary N. Bante, Guia Amor I. Aldiano, and Erica Mae C. Naron.
For Radio Broadcasting and Scriptwriting in Filipino, the following individuals showcased outstanding skill, achieving 1st Place awards in Best in Infomercial, Best in Technical Application, Best in Script, and Overall Radio Production: Althea Ann R. De lo Virges (1st Place – Best Anchor), Lei Carmel DR. Santos, Charlz Macleigh N. Gimenez, Rianne Denise E. Labrador (4th Place – Best Reporter), Jose Junes Jr. R. Sadang, Sofia Moira B. Dolorical (1st Place – Best Reporter), and Jamila Katriel M. Jove.
Angelica R. Panaligan achieved notable success by securing 4th Place in Editorial Writing (Filipino). Jill Queenie M. Bo also demonstrated her proficiency by earning 5th Place in Copyreading and Headline Writing (English).
Additionally, Richelle Andrei I. Manalo participated in Editorial Writing (English), Mary Denise V. Abaño took part in Photojournalism (English), John Ashton O. Javier contributed in Column Writing (English), and Francis Cenon Elevado competed in Sports Writing (Filipino). Their participation is commendable and reflects their dedication and skill in their respective fields.
The team of Christine Anica B. Batalla, Ella Ivy M. Barra, Jordana Ashley M. Lopez, Krishea Mae O. Rull, and Chelsea Ysabel V. Ramboyong achieved significant recognition by securing 2nd Place in Online Publishing (Filipino).
Eager to maintain its winning streak, the journalists are looking forward to competing against the best student journalists from across the region as they represent Iriga City in the upcoming 2024 Regional Schools Press Conference at their hometown on May 8-11, 2024.
