Honing and forging new student leaders, the Senior Students’ League (SSL) conducted Promoveo Leadership Camp (PLC) Season 1 with the theme, “Dare To Go Farther, To Go Further” held last June 10-11, 2024 at the University of Saint Anthony grounds.
The said camp started early on June 10 as the participants started to pile up in the registration area. The program started with the singing of the Philippine National Anthem followed by a prayer via an Audio-Visual presentation. Glaiza Rivera, one of the SSL advisers delivered the opening remarks which was followed by the message of support coming from the Senior High School Principal, Nenita Andalis. It was afterwards followed by an intermission number coming from the SSL Secretary, Marian Janel Palos. The significance of PLC was delivered by Jascyl Jee Sayson, SSL President.
There were a total of three plenary talks all throughout the camp. The first plenary talk was done by the Dean of the Student And Alumni Affairs, Daisy Judavar. She discussed Campus Leadership and Counseling: New Issues, Trends, and Coping in the Contemporary Environment. The second plenary talk happened during the afternoon with Hon. Neil Vargas, Sangguniang Kabataan Chairperson of San Jose, Iriga City. He then talked about Transforming Communities through Servant Leadership.
After the two plenary talks during the first day, the participants engaged with each other as they made their respective team yells and flags. After a few, they were sent off to their quarters to prepare for one of the highlights of the camp, the Socials Night and Search for Mr. and Miss Promoveo 2024. The night ended with Kurt Caleb De Asis being crowned as Mr. Promoveo 2024 and Rycel Alfina Iglesias as Miss Promoveo 2024.
The third plenary talk happened during the second day. The talk was all about SDG Advocacy: The Leaders of Today vs. the Future with Arnel Turiano as the speaker. The talk ended before the lunch break and then followed by the team-building activities during the first half of the afternoon. The closing and awarding ceremony was significantly after the team-building activity.
