"Journey to the West" rivals the King Arthur legend as one of the most adapted stories of all time. The 16th century Chinese story is one of the "Four Great Classic Novels of Chinese Literature" and has inspired everything from cheesy '80s dubs to the "Dragon Ball" franchise. The latest adaptation of this classic story is "The New Legends of Monkey," an Australian/New Zealand/Netflix production. Two seasons of the family-friendly adventure series have already been released, and fans gleefully anticipate a third.

The Netflix original, however, is far more refined production-wise than that kitsch classic, and yet maintains a light comedic tone that keeps the series family friendly. Actress Luciane Buchanan gender-switches the traditionally male role of the monk Tripitaka, although she masquerades as male throughout most of the season. In order to fulfill the mission of gathering some sacred scrolls, Tripitaka is aided by three magical disciples: Monkey (Chai Hansen), Pigsy (Josh Thomson), and Sandy (Emilie Cocquerel), who is also gender-flipped from the novel.

The third episode in the trilogy of Sea of Thieves: The Legend of Monkey Island is entitled The Lair of LeChuck. In this instalment, the players will be able to explore Monkey Island, including the catacombs underneath the monkey head.

The Monkey King is an anthropomorphic monkey relatively the size of an average human. He has orange fur covering his body and tail, and peach skin on his torso, face, ears, knees, hands, and feet. The fur on his head is slicked back. He has a pink heart-shaped marking across his face, golden eyes with a lined wing, and thick black eyebrows.

The first season first slipped on Netflix (without much fanfare) in April 2018 on April 27th in the US and the UK with other regions following sporadically later. 10 episodes in total dropped and season 2 is also expected to be 10 episodes long.

There is at least one though - Hit Monkey. He came out earlier this year as part of the latest Marvel Legends wave, but unlike past BAF's, he wasn't spread across the entire wave. Instead, his little body parts were included with only three figures, and those three figures were actually two potential variants.

To build Hit Monkey, you need to pick up one each of either of the Hulkettes, the Warriors of the Mind, and the Conquering Heroes. I'm looking at the red She Hulk (Hulkettes), Hyperion (Conquering Heroes), and Protector (Warriors of the Mind) along with Hit Monkey himself tonight.

These will run you around $16 at most mass market retailers right now, although finding any of the figures necessary to build the monkey assassin can be tricky. That means you'll spend almost $50 to build the monkey, although you'll end up with three more action figures for your trouble as well. Other figures in the wave include Wolverine, Arch Angel, and Captain America. These figures do NOT include Hit Monkey parts.

Easily the best aspect of the BAF is his sculpt. He's a great looking little guy, with lots of nice sculpt detail in the face. Even with the weird, small monkey paw feet, he stands great on his own - I know, I was surprised by that one.
