More details...
🌊You will recite/read 1 monologue and sing 1 song to prepare for auditions.
🌊If you're interested in different characters choose the one you want the most and work on those parts for your audition.
🌊The monologues and songs you will use are shown below.
🌊For the songs, students will perform them in a karaoke-style with the lyrics on the screen during your audition. Below are the exact links for the ones students will use.
🌊Practice, practice, practice. We can't wait to hear you sing!
🌊You are NOT required to memorize your monologue or song BUT, it does help you prepare better and put more expression into your audition.
🌊Click HERE to visit the official The Little Mermaid, Jr. YouTube channel with all the songs with lyrics. Here you can listen to the versions we will be learning, and practice your songs with words.
🌊If you already know you want to be in the chorus, come to the audition and complete the ensemble portion of the audition from 2:30-3:00.
🌊In addition, if you're interested in being on the backstage crew come to the audition during ensemble as well (2:30-3:00) and submit an AUDITION SHEET.
🌊 We are looking for students who can project loudly, exude confidence, dedicate themselves to the rehearsals, and are excited about this fun opportunity! Attitude is everything :) Below is the form we will be using to make notes on your performance. This gives you insight into what we will be looking at during your audition.
You can print out your sides and read them. However, if you come with your lines memorized it will show your commitment to this production!
You will be asked to sing about 1 minute of the songs listed below for your part. We want to see that you can project your voice and show confidence. You will sing with the music in the background that has no words. (Think Karaoke style) In addition, the exact videos below will be used for your audition and will be on the screen so you will have help with lyrics and timing.
In most casting experiences actors will bring resumes to show their prior experiences. Instead of a resume, bring your audition sheet completed with information about the roles you desire.
Maybe there is something the matter with me
I just don't see how a world that makes such wonderful things could be bad
Look at this stuff
Isn't it neat?
Wouldn't you think my collection's complete?
Wouldn't you think I'm the girl
The girl who has everything?
Look at this trove
Treasures untold
How many wonders can one cavern hold?
Looking around here you'd think
Sure, she's got everything
I've got gadgets and gizmos a-plenty
I've got whozits and whatzits galore
You want thingamabobs?
I've got twenty!
But who cares?
No big deal
I want more
PRINCE ERIC
(spoken)
You're nimble on your feet aren't you? Well, dancing beats small talk any day. It's the way your legs smile. Or laugh. It lets you say so many things.
(sung)
Dancing is a language that is felt instead of heard
You can whisper, sing or shout without so much as a word
Try it, go on, like so...
Just let your emotions tell your body what to do
See how much a single gesture can reveal!
And ev'ry little step
Ev'ry single step
Is one step closer
To saying what you feel
I admit that in the past I've been a nasty
They weren't kidding when they called me, well, a witch
But you'll find that nowadays
I've mended all my ways
Repented, seen the light, and made a switch
To this
True? Yes.
And I fortunately know a little magic
It's a talent that I always have possessed
And dear lady, please don't laugh
I use it on behalf
Of the miserable, the lonely, and depressed (pathetic)
Poor unfortunate souls
In pain, in need
This one longing to be thinner
That one wants to get the girl
And do I help them?
Yes, indeed
Those poor unfortunate souls
So sad, so true
They come flocking to my cauldron
Crying, "Spells, Ursula, please!"
And I help them!
Yes I do
Percussion
Strings
Winds
Words
There you see her
Sitting there across the way
She don't got a lot to say
But there's something about her
And you don't know why
But you're dying to try
You wanna kiss the girl
Yes, you want her
Look at her, you know you do
Possible she wants you too
There is one way to ask her
It don't take a word
Not a single word
Go on and kiss the girl
The seaweed is always greener
In somebody else's lake
You dream about going up there
But that is a big mistake
Just look at the world around you
Right here on the ocean floor
Such wonderful things surround you
What more is you lookin' for?
Under the sea
Under the sea
Darling it's better
Down where it's wetter
Take it from me
Up on the shore they work all day
Out in the sun they slave away
While we devotin'
Full time to floatin'
Under the sea
Say that you wanna have a hairdo
Like the folks who live up there do
That'll flap their wings
(Flop their wings) (Flap) (Squawk)
Well you'll look absolutely dandy
If you use one of these handy
Little thingamajigs
(Thingamabobs) (Jigs) (Bobs) (Squawk)
Pick up a dinglehopper just like so
Twirl it the way I'm twirling now
Give it a little yank and there ya go
You're what they call the dog's meow
Wonderful stuff (squawk)
The human stuff
Can't get enough (squawk)
Of human stuff!
And we are the authority
No need for us to bluff
Because we're great at explainatin'
Human stuff

Les poissons, les poissons
How I love les poissons
Love to chop and to serve little fish
First I cut of their heads
Zen I pull out their bones
Ah mais oui, ça see'est toujours delish
Les poissons, les poissons
Hee hee hee, haw haw haw
With the cleaver I hack them in two
I pull out what's inside
And I serve it up fried
God, I love little fishes, don't you?

(No Monologue)
The Chefs are Chef Louis's assistants.
