The 2018 Klondike Derby will be held at Camp Amisk on Saturday March 3rd and Sunday March 4th.
The Klondike Derby is an annual event held at Scouts Canada’s Camp Amisk located across from LaBarriere Park on Waverly Street, 6 km south of the Perimeter Highway.
The event requires teams of 6 to 8 Cubs/Guides or Scouts/Pathfinders to pull a Klondike- type sleigh over a course of approximately 2.5 km through the woods at Camp Amisk. Teams follow a map and visit ten Klondike "towns" where the Town Mayor assigns the team a particular task or activity. “Gold” Nuggets (points) are awarded to the team based on how well it performs the task, the speed, and the demonstrated teamwork.
Why Participate? The Klondike Derby can be a great way to supplement your weekly program with an opportunity to learn outdoor skills in a fun and controlled environment. Although the Derby is run as a competition, with Gold Nuggets and speed contributing to the final score, many teams simply come for the fun and experience.
