Welcome ,

About us:

Dr. Kiran R Kharat is working as an assistant professor in zoology. Our lab is engaged in therapy development using nanotechnology and microdevices. We are developing a nanoparticle-based therapy to treat blood cancer. Breast cancer metastasis has become a leading cause of death in patients. Many drugs are currently used to destroy migrating cancer cells. There are four types of therapies for the treatment of breast cancer: hormonal therapy, chemotherapy, targeted therapy, and immunotherapy. Highly specific "targeted therapy’ targets tumour genes, gene products, angiogenesis, or nutrient supply to cancer cells. The nanoparticles were injected through the bloodstream to kill the cancer cells. The result of this therapy is to destroy the tumour cells with no or minimal side effects. Our group has developed a nanokidney device for CKD patients. We have a novel process for optimum production of DHA and EPA from heterotrophic algae. Our lab's research interest emphasises the development of novel, innovative products for society by using biotechnology and nanotechnology. We received many project-grants from DST, DBT BIRAC, DST-Nanomission, and SERB-Young Scientist Fellowship.
