Metamorphs are artificial lifeforms, shape-shifters that were created by a variety of different races at a variety of different times.
There isn't a specific kingdom that Metamorphs can be found in. These shape-shifters are very unique, but can be found all throughout Cynderin, and lie in many places, from the darkest dungeons of Cynderin, to maybe even your own home...
All of these creatures may have been created, but none of them possess souls!
and, quite frankly, most of them aren't too intelligent, either...
UNIVERSAL RACE TRAIT: All Metamorphs are immune to soul magic, and heavily resistant to most physical damage.
Here are the metamorph races and their traits!

#1. Slime: Slimes are a very unique race that can come in all kinds of different shapes, colors, and sizes. Amorphous, blob like creatures, slimes were first created long ago by a mage who incorrectly performed a spell. Slimes are water-based organisms able to feed off of mana as well as natural objects, with mana being the key factor that determines how large a slime can grow, and the more mana a slime has the more objects it can assimilate and the larger it can grow. Slimes possess very limited intelligence, but are still sentient. These viscous creatures are practically immune to physical damage due to being only liquid, but are affected greatly by temperature, and can either be boiled or frozen depending on how the environment around them is, causing them to primarily inhabit temperate climates all throughout Cynderin. Likewise with physical damage, slimes are also practically immune to poison and disease, as there’s really nothing to poison or infect apart from water. Slimes are mildly corrosive, allowing them to dissolve skin and muscle in a few hours, but are incapable of dissolving bone and very corrosion-resistant materials. Typically, slimes also include solid objects such as metal inside themselves to increase their ability to hold a form. However, slimes do have many weaknesses. Due to their very limited intelligence, despite being composed of a lot of mana, they have great difficulty learning and casting spells, and doing so would harm them and use up the mana holding them together. This also serves as a weakness, as any sort of mana-draining object—like something as simple as a mana crystal—and suppression magic are able to kill a slime permanently and reduce them to just a puddle on the ground. Slimes are also more vulnerable to heat than they are with being frozen, as being frozen only subdues a slime and does not kill it.
Height Range: Varied.
Life Expectancy: Slimes do not age. They live until the mana inside their bodies is depleted. However, you all are limited to 1,000 or below for your characters.
Location: Temperate climates all across Cynderin.
Strengths: Ability to feed off mana and natural objects, able to increase greatly in size with more mana, immune to physical damage, immune to poison & disease, mildly corrosive, and ability to hold objects within themselves.
Weaknesses: Very limited intelligence, extreme heat, extreme cold, great difficulty learning and casting magic, massively weak to suppression magic and objects that can absorb the mana holding them together.
#2. Predator Slime: Predator Slimes are a type of slime that has evolved to thrive off of consuming living organisms. Predator slimes are also susceptible to physical damage unlike other slimes, and are also much more viscous than standard slimes. These unique creatures are much more corrosive than their standard slime relatives, and as such, they have the ability to dissolve not only skin and muscle, but bone. These slimes have also developed a sort of camouflage due to their much more active, hunting nature, and possess the ability to change their color and harden parts of their body into a smooth but extremely hard state that feels like marble, but is as strong as stone; but, predator slimes are unable to mimic the texture of creatures, like scales or skin. They also have been known to attach pieces of metal such as armor or blades to strengthen their overall form and make themselves more deadly in addition to their hardening abilities. Unlike normal slimes, they also have a greater resistance to extreme temperatures and, in rare cases, are able to survive in extremely cold / hot environments. However, it is known that predator slimes are not able to live off of just mana alone, and must feed on other organisms / organic material to survive and continue living. But, due to this and their intelligence much greater than that of a normal slime, predator slimes are actually able to cast spells and learn magic without much harm done by using up their mana, since it’s not all they rely on to survive. Despite this though, they are still very vulnerable to suppression magic and objects that absorb the mana in their bodies.
Height Range: Varied.
Life Expectancy: Predator slimes do not age. They live until the mana inside their bodies is depleted or they cease consuming organic material for long enough. However, you all are limited to 1,000 or below for your characters.
Location: Can be found all across Cynderin; most commonly temperate climates, but some can survive in extreme environments or conditions.
Strengths: Highly corrosive, highly viscous, ability to change color, ability to harden parts of their body to become more stonelike, ability to cast magic, and are smarter than normal slimes.
Weaknesses: Unable to mimic texture of creatures, unable to survive just off of mana alone, weak to suppression magic and objects that can absorb the mana that helps hold them together.
#3. Mimic: Mimics are a species of carnivorous ambush predators that can be found all throughout Cynderin. These creatures were made by the Elves of Drimmudel intended to be used as bioweapons during one of the numerous Dragon Wars, but quickly spread all throughout Cynderin. These creatures are unique in the sense that they possess terrifying strength, with a typical full-grown mimic being able to rip a beorning in half with raw physical strength; and this strength only increases the bigger a mimic is. Just as the name suggests, mimics can mimic any type of object, from coffee mugs, to chests, and even entire houses at times; however, it is known that they do vary greatly in their appearances when not disguised, and can appear insect-like, crustacean-like, or even humanoid. To perfectly disguise themselves, they possess the ability to go into a dormant hibernation where they are unable to move, yet they can still sense their surroundings with the use of natural mana (yet are undetectable with magic), and can awaken from their hibernation when they’re certain they’ll be able to catch prey. It’s also known that mimics are egg-laying creatures, and they lay their eggs in various objects, allowing for the young mimics to grow in size according to how big the object is. It’s also known that during this state, the mimic’s physiology changes, growing new body parts and appendages to perfectly imitate the object; this also means that mimics grow to mimic a specific object, and cannot change later in their life. Though, despite their intense physical strength and masterful stealth, they are unable to learn or cast magic and have extremely limited intelligence (and act usually only on instinct). Otherwise, their durability varies drastically depending on the type of material and object they mimic, as the appendages they grow to imitate objects gain the actual durability and structure of said object, giving them (usually) very strong defense.
Height Range: Varied.
Life Expectancy: 40 years, but they can live past this due to their hibernation.
Location: Can be found all across Cynderin, but favor temperate or warmer climates and try to stay away from colder climates.
Strengths: Insane physical strength, high durability, undetectable with magic, and masterful camouflage.
Weaknesses: Extremely limited intelligence, no magical casting ability, and varying durability based on the type of object they disguise as.
#4. Doppelganger: Doppelgangers, also sometimes referred to as simply “sentient mimics” are relatives of mimics that have evolved to learn to replicate something other than inanimate objects: living beings. Doppelgangers are very rare, and unlike their animal-like relatives, possess relatively high intelligence and the ability to mimic both the appearance and voice of other sentient races like humans, beornings, ogres, and more, but are unable to mimic undead, angels, and demons. Doppelgangers are also able to adapt to almost all environmental conditions in Cynderin, and as such, can be found almost anywhere. While not being as physically strong as mimics are, they are still very physically strong, have the ability to learn some forms of magic (particularly being fond of casting illusion magic which aids them in their transformations), and as said before, have relatively high intelligence and a natural curiosity for the world. However, while mimics are near perfect with their disguises, doppelgangers are more prone to having errors with their transformations, such as having longer limbs than normal, slightly distended bodies, and they particularly struggle with replicating faces due to the fine details that go into replicating them. While they are capable of casting and learning magic, they struggle with learning any form of magic that isn’t illusion magic, and typically use illusion magic to try and make their disguises more perfect. However, perhaps their greatest ability is the ability to copy two unique race-specific strengths of the race they disguise themselves as; with this, however, comes the downside of copying one unique race-specific weakness of the copied race, as well as any physical weakness (for example, weakness to piercing damage, slashing damage, etc). Both the strengths and the weaknesses gained from copying the race vanish after the Doppelganger ceases mimicking the race.
Height Range: Varied.
Life Expectancy: 120 years.
Location: Can be found all across Cynderin.
Strengths: High adaptability to environmental conditions, high physical strength, high intelligence, affinity for casting illusion magic, and ability to copy two unique race-specific strengths when mimicking a certain race.
Weaknesses: Extreme difficulty learning non-illusion magic, imperfections while mimicking races, and the physical damage weakness and one unique race-specific weakness gained from whatever race they mimic.
