If you want a rugged, universal transport rack for classic cars, UTVs, and hunting vehicles that protects your barrel without damage, choose THE GUN GRABBER 310VT; if you need a precise, concealed carry mount specifically engineered for the interior of modern Ford F150 and Super Duty trucks, choose DSSWEN Console Sidearm Holster. These two products solve completely different problems, and picking the wrong one leaves you with gear that doesn't fit your vehicle or your needs. I have analyzed the design specifications and intended use cases to help you decide which piece of equipment belongs in your rig today.
• THE GUN GRABBER 310VT: Its biggest strength is its patented barrel-gripping technology that has never reported damaging a firearm in 14 years of manufacturing; its trade-off is that it is designed as a transport rack rather than a seated quick-draw holster. This pick is for owners of classic cars, golf carts, and off-road utility vehicles who prioritize long-term storage safety over immediate access from the driver's seat.
• DSSWEN Console Sidearm Holster: Its biggest strength is its specific compatibility with Ford F150 and Super Duty models for a discreet, under-dash installation; its trade-off is that it is limited strictly to those specific truck platforms and does not offer universal fitment. This pick is for Ford truck owners who need a secure, hidden location for a sidearm while driving on highways or rough terrain.
The THE GUN GRABBER 310VT is built for a specific kind of mobility where firearms need to be secured during transit across varied and often rough environments. The core of this product lies in its patented barrel gripping technology. In my view, this is the defining feature that separates it from generic racks. That level of consistency suggests a design philosophy centered entirely on preserving the integrity of the weapon while it sits motionless in a moving vehicle.
This holster is not meant to be drawn quickly while sitting in a driver's seat next to a console. Instead, it is a multiple-use vehicle transport gun rack. It finds its home in US Coast Guard cutters, UTVs, side-by-sides, golf carts, and hunting buses. If you own a classic car, this is likely the only solution that offers the stability required for vintage suspension systems or the unique mounting points found in older chassis. It is made in the USA from quality materials designed to last for years, implying a heavy-duty construction that can withstand the vibration and movement of an aging vehicle frame.
You should buy the THE GUN GRABBER 310VT if your priority is absolute protection for your firearm during transport. It is ideal for hunters who load up a bus or ATV and need to know the gun will not scratch or shift during the ride. However, you should skip this product if you are looking for a low-profile, under-dash concealment solution inside a modern pickup truck. It is a transport device first, not a tactical draw platform for daily driving in a standard passenger cabin.

The DSSWEN Console Sidearm Holster operates in a completely different ecosystem. It is not a universal transport rack; it is a precision-engineered bracket designed for a very narrow slice of the automotive market. The key specification here is vehicle compatibility. It is built specifically for the Ford F150 (2015-2020) and the F250/F350 Super Duty (2017-2022). If your truck falls outside these model years, this product will not fit. This specificity is both its greatest asset and its most significant limitation.
Its primary function is concealed carry mounting. The design installs directly under the dash near the console, keeping the firearm out of plain sight but within reach of the driver or passenger. The goal is a balance between security and accessibility. The sturdy bracket construction is intended to keep the holster firmly in place during daily driving and even when navigating rough terrain. For a truck owner, having a sidearm mounted securely under the dashboard prevents it from becoming a projectile during sudden stops or accidents, while still allowing for a quick retrieval when needed.
Installation is another critical factor for this user profile. The design allows the unit to mount directly to the existing console area without requiring permanent modifications. This preserves the interior of the truck, which is a major concern for owners who value their vehicle's resale value or aesthetic. You should choose the DSSWEN Console Sidearm Holster if you drive one of the specified Ford trucks and need a discreet, factory-like integration for your sidearm. If you drive a classic car, a Jeep, or any vehicle other than the listed Ford models, this product is not an option.
• Best for Classic Cars: Choose THE GUN GRABBER 310VT, as it is explicitly noted for use in various non-standard vehicles including classic setups, whereas DSSWEN is locked to modern Ford trucks.
• Best for Universal Fit: Choose THE GUN GRABBER 310VT, which works on Coast Guard cutters, UTVs, and golf carts, compared to the DSSWEN which is restricted to specific Ford years.
• Best for Barrel Protection: Choose THE GUN GRABBER 310VT due to its patented barrel gripping technology with zero reported damage in 14 years, unlike the DSSWEN which focuses on grip retention via a bracket.
• Best for Concealed Under-Dash Storage: Choose DSSWEN Console Sidearm Holster, designed specifically to hide the firearm under the dash near the console for discretion.
• Best for Quick Access While Seated: Choose DSSWEN Console Sidearm Holster, as it positions the sidearm right next to the driver's hand, whereas THE GUN GRABBER 310VT is a transport rack.
• Best for Rough Terrain Transport: Both work, but THE GUN GRABBER 310VT is marketed for UTVs and side-by-sides, while DSSWEN is rated for truck rough terrain.
• Best for Non-Permanent Installation: Choose DSSWEN Console Sidearm Holster, which mounts to the existing console without permanent modifications; THE GUN GRABBER 310VT requires a mounting surface but lacks the specific "no-mod" claim for interiors.
• Best for Long-Term Durability: Choose THE GUN GRABBER 310VT, which is made in the USA from quality materials designed to last for years, contrasting with the general "sturdy" description of the DSSWEN.
In my opinion, the decision comes down entirely to the vehicle you own and how you intend to use the firearm. If you drive a classic car or a multi-purpose off-road vehicle like a UTV or golf cart, there is no contest; the THE GUN GRABBER 310VT is the only logical choice because it offers universal transport capabilities and proven barrel protection. However, if you are driving a modern Ford F150 or Super Duty and your goal is to keep a sidearm hidden yet accessible under the dash, the DSSWEN Console Sidearm Holster is the superior tool. For a classic car enthusiast looking for a reliable way to transport a firearm without risking damage, I would personally recommend the THE GUN GRABBER 310VT.
No, the DSSWEN Console Sidearm Holster is strictly compatible with the Ford F150 (2015-2020) and F250/F350 Super Duty (2017-2022). It will not fit other brands or model years outside this range.
According to the manufacturer's data, the THE GUN GRABBER 310VT uses patented barrel gripping technology, and no damage to a firearm barrel has ever been reported in their 14 years of manufacturing.
No, the DSSWEN Console Sidearm Holster is designed to mount directly to the existing console area without permanent modifications, preserving the vehicle's interior.
While it is versatile enough for many vehicles, it is specifically highlighted for use in Coast Guard cutters, UTVs, side-by-sides, golf carts, and hunting buses, suggesting it is best suited for larger or specialized transport scenarios rather than standard sedans.
