I think we need to move away from the term myself. We should split into UX Engineers and JavaScript Engineers. They are different mindsets. Most people are not amazing at both JavaScript and CSS. Let UX Engineers work closely with UX/Design to create great designs, interactions, prototypes, etc. and let JavaScript Engineers handle all the data parts.

My job title is Front End Engineer, but I always introduce myself as a Front End Developer, because even though I am pretty solid with React and spend a ton of time working on JS, I do not think I am an Engineer in terms of greater architectural understanding.

2005-2011: Front-end developer. I specialised in the front-end because CSS was there, and I honestly loved the huge differences between browsers. I was great at it. Javascript was basically just jQuery to show modal windows. I wrote HTML in templates that were sent down the line by server side code (Java, .Net, Ruby.)

Waoh! What a great post that summarised what have been bothering for some years. My HTML/CSS skill has not taken me notable position just because most of job postings out there are all about JS. And I have been learning JavaScript for more than two years now. Pls, help us resolve the overlaps in this field so that we that are coming up in this field can take our skillsets beyond limitation.

This discussion is really nice and needful so its great that someone like Chris Coyier write about it. I am currently working as html/css front-end developer. If i see the job opportunities in the Netherlands there is slightly a shift thats separate between these two disciplines. That being said i totally agree that writing correct html / css is not an easy job and especially in large projects its a huge challenge to organise and write maintainable css, i, still by myself have a lot of challenges in this area and learning everyday. But i think we should be honest the salary and the job opportunities are much better for js engineers and thats why companies want a front-end developers which are good in both fields and i totally understand that. I even think that a html/css front-end developer should train him/her self to learn javascript because you can better communicate with your engineers if you understand some basic concepts. This also applies to javascript engineers who should do some reading about html/css, basic knowledge about box model, css layout (grid, flexbox etc).

Medical insurance typically covers physical therapy, but the limitations and cost vary greatly depending on the carrier and policy. Here are a few things to keep in mind when evaluating your insurance coverage.

In July 2008, I wrote: \u201CLike many, I too was originally disappointed when I first learned about the creation of the Tour Divide. I feared a squabbling end to the Great Divide Race and bitter feelings remaining for most involved. But, as it turned out, both races worked out beautifully. Both attracted strong fields and both developed their voices, their own compelling stories, and inspiring efforts as the races progressed. On one hand, it\u2019s strange to divide what is a small, small community. On the other hand, this year proved that there\u2019s not only room for two events in Great Divide racing, there may even be a need. Tour Divide has its passion and sense of community. Great Divide Race has its history and competitive spirit. Together, they coaxed more people to race this crazy route than ever before. I like to think of it as similar to the American League and the National League in baseball \u2014 separate but equal.\u201D

Training canisters can be purchased that do not contain the active capsicum ingredient. These are a great way to familiarize yourself with how to use your bear spray. Try to get the same brand of training canister as the one you carry on the trail as characteristics vary between brands. If you want to learn more, many outdoor stores and parks offer occasional bear safety days or seminars.

Is it possible that a rational market could ever be priced so high that it simply could not deliver an acceptable long-term risk premium without making absolutely incredible assumptions about future dividends? We think not. In other words, we think the discount rate would have to be implausibly low to save EMH from Shiller this time. We think this one was a bubble.

COVID-19 HAS NOT BEEN an equal opportunity virus: it goes after people in poor health and those whose daily lives expose them to greater contact with others. And this means it goes disproportionately after the poor, especially in poor countries and in advanced economies like the United States where access to health care is not guaranteed. One of the reasons the United States has been afflicted with the highest number of cases and deaths (at least as this goes to press) is because it has among the poorest average health standards of major developed economies, exemplified by low life expectancy (lower now than it was even seven years ago) and the highest levels of health disparities.

We need a comprehensive rewriting of the rules of the economy. For instance, we need monetary policies that focus more on ensuring full employment of all groups and not just on inflation; bankruptcy laws that are better balanced, replacing those that became too creditor-friendly and provided too little accountability for bankers who engaged in predatory lending; and corporate governance laws that recognize the importance of all stakeholders, not just shareholders. The rules governing globalization must do more than just serve corporate interests; workers and the environment have to be protected. Labor legislation needs to do a better job of protecting workers and providing greater scope for collective action.

In some nonmonotonic dose responses (NMDRs), the dose response curve may be shaped like a U with high responses at low and at high levels of exposure, whereas others are shaped like an inverted U, with the greatest responses at intermediate doses (50). Calabrese and Baldwin (51) described the importance of experimental design to detect the presence of a NMDR curve. In particular, studies of dose response curves must use a wide range of doses, including doses below the established LOAEL. A meta-analysis of 20,285 toxicology studies conducted between 1962 and 1998 found that only 1% of the published studies met the criteria set a priori to determine whether a study was designed properly to detect a NMDR curve (51). Almost 40% of these studies satisfied the requirements for a NMDR, supporting the idea that the occurrence of NMDRs is nonrandom and may even be more common than monotonic dose response curves.

Intrauterine position would explain the occurrence of offspring with a comparable genotype but variable phenotypes. This range of phenotypes would allow for a greater chance of survival under different environmental conditions. For instance, 0M females would be better suited to reproduce when resources are plentiful (67,68). However, under stressful conditions, the aggressive 2M females would be more successful breeders (69). There is evidence that a variable intrauterine environment is essential for normal development, yet interestingly, it has been suggested that intrauterine positional effects are inconsequential in inbred strains (70,71). However, mice and gerbils that do not have littermates reproduce poorly and have abnormal sexual maturity (reviewed in Ref. 69).

3) Pediatricians promote the idea that children are not little adults; the pharmacokinetics of chemicals and drugs are very different in fetuses and neonates compared with adults (12,23). Men and pregnant and nonpregnant women also differ in their metabolism of chemicals including BPA, suggesting that pharmacokinetics from normal adults cannot be extrapolated to models of metabolism in pregnant women (134,141). To conduct experiments on the population of greatest concern, i.e., human fetuses and neonates, pregnant and lactating mothers would have to be treated with controlled doses of BPA; informed consent would be required for such an experiment, and most researchers in the field have enough concern about human exposures that this experiment would likely be viewed as unethical.
