They're just like you and me--the Wayne Family was spotted at Beside the Mantel shopping for not only a Christmas tree for their family, but for Gotham's main square.
IT'S the Holiday Season here in Gotham and people are decorating the streets. Lights have been put up, and even the rogues have switched out their usual costumes for more festive versions. Whether folks are putting up trees for Christmas or lighting up their menorahs for Hanukkah, decorating for the holidays is every gothamite's current priority. Including, one Bruce Wayne.
It is no secret that Bruce Wayne goes all out for the holidays. The Wayne Manor is often tastefully decorated with a mixture of Christmas and Hanukkah decorations, with sneak peeks inside of the manor the highlight of every decorator's month. As Mr. Wayne's family has grown, so too has the number of traditions and types of decorations within the household.
Take, for instance, Dick Grayson. Before the first of Mr. Wayne's many charges joined his household, the Wayne Manor had remained one of the few of Gotham's Elite to not decorate for the holidays. This had been chalked up to the Waynes celebrating Hanukkah instead of Christmas, but once Mr. Grayson became a part of the Wayne Family, lights and trees and all of the works were put up around the house.
Mr. Wayne has gone on record that he wants his children to feel comfortable in his home and that their holidays should be respected. As such, the Wayne Manor has become home to all sorts of holiday celebrations and done its best to accommodate every child's specific holiday needs.
With the arrival of Daniel Wayne, everyone has been wondering what new traditions the boy will bring to the table. When reporters caught sight of the boy and the rest of the Waynes visiting Beside the Mantel, they figured this would be the perfect chance to see how he would influence these family traditions.
Imagine their surprise when while most of the Wayne children were ducking through the Christmas trees and picking out the best ones to take back to Gotham, Daniel was off to the side, arms crossed and looking very much like he did not want to be there there. Unfortunately we could not catch him after the family's trip so we don't have a quote from him. However, we did managed to sneak a peek at the trees the Waynes had picked out.
Of course, Wayne Enterprises always shows up with its classic Douglas Firs. The trucks were practically bursting with them as Mr. Wayne bought enough to fill the whole building. For their personal trees, Mr. Wayne allowed each of his children to pick out one tree each to decorate around their homes. You can find pictures of the personal trees down below.
This year, the Waynes seem determined to challenge the Rockefeller Center's trees of fame, picking out a 85 foot Colorado Blue Spruce to set up in Gotham's main square. Readers can see the spruce pictured to the right in all of its Christmas glory, decorated to the nines and clearly ready for a Christmas time.
While we may not have been able to talk to the Waynes right after their Christmas Tree Shopping bonanza, Mr. Wayne was kind enough to allow the Gotham Gazette's photographers to take some photos of the Wayne Manor's decorations. Please enjoy some exclusive photos of the Wayne Manor's holiday decorations. This is Vicki Vale, signing off for my holiday break.
