ON AUGUST 5TH, at 2:57 PM, Mr. Alfred Pennyworth was alerted to a guest knocking at the front door of the manor. He had not been expecting anyone, nor had he gotten a buzz from the Wayne Manor Gate. When he opened the door, he found two men wearing white suits demanding they be let in to Wayne Manor to perform a mandatory inspection for "ectoplasmic entities". When Mr. Pennyworth refused, the two men forced themselves inside the manor and then began to chase the youngest, and newest, member of the Wayne family, Daniel Wayne, around the house.
"It was quite frightening," Mr. Pennyworth said when asked about the incident, "They had guns trained on young Master Danny, and one even shot him. If they'd been stopped even a moment later... I can only thank the stars that Miss Orphan was able to respond to my emergency bat signal."
Thanks to the quick actions of Orphan, the trespassers were apprehended. Batman quickly descended on the scene and took charge of the criminals after seeing to the injuries of Daniel. From what Gotham PD has released of the interrogations, the men called themselves Agents O and K of the Ghost Investigation Ward. According to them, they are members of a branch of the government that serves to eradicate all traces of ectoplasmic contamination and ectoplasmic entities from the Earth in accordance with the Anti-Ecto Acts. While further research has show that these acts are indeed real, many question whether the claims of these men are exactly what they say.
"I mean, a Ghost Investigation Ward? Really?" Chief of Police, James Gordon, was overhead saying to his subordinates. "I know that there's been more credibility given to Area 51 since Superman and Martian Manhunter popped up, but a section of the federal government dedicated to ghost hunting? They're really coming up with new ways to waste our tax dollars."
Currently both men have been transferred to the care of the Justice League. According to one of its key members, Superman, "The League does not endorse these Anti-Ecto Acts. Clearly these acts were created in violation of the Meta Protection laws we've worked so hard to petition for and implement. If these Ectoplasmic beings are being hunted by this "Ghost Investigation Ward" then we have a duty to help them find asylum from this vicious attack."
While this reporter may not know what ectoplasmic entities are, one can tell that the Justice League is looking out for every person and sentient/sapient creature on our lovely planet. Hopefully the Waynes can feel safer knowing that these intruders are in the capable hands of the Justice League. After speaking with Mr. Pennyworth, it seems that Daniel is healing well despite the traumatic experience.
As of now, there is no news as to why these Ghost Investigation Ward agents targeted the Wayne Manor specifically. However, we at the Gotham Gazette will be working tirelessly to make sure that whatever news comes, we will be the first to deliver it to you. Until then, we wish Daniel a swift recover and justice for the Waynes.
