Abigail Adams wrote these words to her husband, John Adams, on March 31, 1776, nearly 150 years before the House of Representatives voted to pass the 19th Amendment giving women the right to vote. Her words urged him and the other members of the Continental Congress to consider the rights of women while laying the framework for the new, independent nation.

He is haunted by conflict between country and culture, revolution and redemption, embrace and exclusion, and, perhaps most of all, between a yearning to remember and the urge not to. And his prose brings those conflicts to life.

Museum founder Larry Mizel welcomed Colorado Attorney General Phil Weiser, who gave the keynote remarks, as well as Colorado Gov. Jared Polis to honor the occasion and remember the 34,000 lives lost at the Babi Yar Ravine in Kyiv, Ukraine, during the Holocaust.

Veterans will gather alongside representatives from the Royal Navy Association and Royal British Legion outside the Civic Offices in Angel Street at 11.30am on 27 April for a ceremony to remember HMS Urge.

They said that it's possible to resist all the dark urges, which then makes it pretty much sound like a normal custom character with more options. Only notable difference would be the other narrator, would it not?

The recent death of Rhoda Adams at age 85 brought back warm memories of Arkansas' tamale queen. I remember that stormy Tuesday night in the spring of 2017 when she sat in the swank lobby of the Ron Robinson Theater in Little Rock's River Market District.

Members of the Bel Air Volunteer Fire Company remember 29-year-old paramedic Capt. Erik Steciak, who died in the line of duty Tuesday, as someone dedicated to mentoring cadets and younger members of the fire company, even on his days off.

Remember that the Republicans were not happy about the Gazette. The first person to arrive, sit at the bar and talk to the student reporters was a Democratic State Senator, Olga Mendez. She was animated, she was wonderful and I have always remembered her very fondly. What a lady!

Then in came this other guy who was formally the President of the New York State Senate, the lieutenant governor of the state, Mario M. Cuomo who sat at the long bar and talked to everyone. This was amazing since that was the very night of the annual Senate Dinner, the highlight of the Senate social year when not only all the senators, but all the alumni senators showed up to regale each other with stories of their lives and reminiscences. I remember that some of the students entertained, and I remember that I played the banjo and sang some folk songs.

When we are running short on drinking water and have overextended ourselves, please remember who put us there! I would propose that the developer find another source for his very important project and stop pushing his needs off on our city. Guess what, the next thing we will hear is the approval to annex this mess!

Watch for your hard workers who send you email at 10 p.m. when they should be home with their feet up. Give these employees a friendly reminder that they do not have to work late at night. We need to remember that excessive hours at work do not usually lead to productive employees. Make sure your employees are taking the time off that they need. Otherwise you will end up with a staff that is tired, burnt out and stressed to the point where they are not that effective at doing their jobs.

We also spent Thanksgiving with our aunts and uncles. One of them owned a cat that when my dad first saw it thought was some kind of wild cat, it was so big. Its name was Kit Kat, and it was not just overweight, it was huge. A bit intimidating for a kid who just wanted to pet it. Some of my aunts and uncles lived on farms, and as small children we ventured outside to play on old machinery. I remember the metal beasts being orange and rusted in places, old tractors and implements like corn choppers, and our older cousins guiding us through the dregs of the afternoon, pretending we were in "Star Wars" or some other film or TV series.

Holiday travel has experienced a resurgence, despite the ongoing difficulties with which the airline industry continues to deal. Despite some remaining uneasiness, many families are opting for larger Thanksgiving meal gatherings than what they chose to have last year.

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, who attended Wednesday's event alongside Quebec Premier Franois Legault and other dignitaries, said there is a duty to remember the women who were killed "just because they were women."

In a letter sent this week to members of the upper chamber, Sweeney urged senators to adopt the legislation known as Bill C-21, arguing it contains crucial measures that would improve the way police deal with domestic violence cases involving firearms.

"Implementing these measures is urgent," Sweeney says in the letter, made available to The Canadian Press. "The bill is the result of years of advocacy from victims and women's groups, and women have died while the bill has been debated."

Faubus asserts that he has, and has had, support in the black community, naming some black leaders as references. He recalls traveling the state listening to black Arkansans' concerns about his plan not to seek another term as governor and the Democratic Party's unwillingness to court black voters. Conditions in schools were good then, Faubus remembers, before integration destroyed them.

U.S. Sen. John Boozman says Arkansas students have returned successfully to classes. The rest of the nation should follow, he believes, as Arkansas sets an example of how it can be done safely. Boozman urges returning students to pursue in-person covid classroom protocols.

One of her friends who had gone to work as a housekeeper at Carolina in the late 1980s had urged Craven to join her, but Craven had always thought the 32-mile drive from Siler City to Chapel Hill was too far. By 1992, though, she decided the long drive seemed better than spending another hour on the production line, where every hour was the same.

She was 45 years old the morning she walked through the door of Old West to start her shift. It was 3:50 a.m., Craven remembers, and she thought she had died and gone to heaven. Everything was so peaceful and quiet, and the work was not coming at her the way it did in the mill. She could work at her own pace, and take the time to do it well.

Beverly currently resides in Cranbrook, although she was raised in Fernie. She remembers accompanying her father to the Fernie Station to watch Brewer and other soldiers pass through on a train. The soldiers were not allowed to get off and visit with their families, but they were able to wave from the window. 006ab0faaa
