salvete discipuli and welcome to our virtual field trip: Pocket Pompeii. You will be collecting evidence from the links below in order to gain a deeper understanding of the location, architecture, art, and Roman culture by examining videos, images, and artifacts. Once you understand how and why Pompeii was constructed and why it became such a prosperous Roman city, we can further understand how this led to the ultimate demise of the city and its people during the eruption of Mt. Vesuvius on 24 August, 79 A.D.
What to do:
Using your virtual field trip checklist and the region links provided below, examine all regions of Pompeii, Herculaneum, and Mt. Vesuvius. - To what extent do cultural norms inhibit or advance decision making?
- How can the Romans (and how can we) use scientific, technological, engineering, and mathematical principles to protect people and places against natural disasters?
