The film A Mighty Heart Here's the story ..?

Again, I want to write a film based on a true story, like Alive before. Adapted from the novel entitled Mariane Pearl's Memoir which was written by Mariane Pearl herself and tells the story of how her husband Daniel Pearl was kidnapped by an ethnic group in Karachi, Pakistan.

Just because he is a Jew and is considered an American spy. This film tells how Mariane was determined when she had to wait for news from her husband for more than ten days, in a state of late pregnancy. The film is heartwarming and Angelina Jolie plays a very good role here.

Daniel Pearl or Danny (played by Dan Futterman) is a journalist from the Wall Street Journal who invites his wife Mariane Pearl (played by Angelina Jolie) who is also a journalist to stay for some time in Karachi, Pakistan. Danny wants to interview a hardline Islamic figure named Sheikh Gilani who is suspected of being behind the bomb attacks in several cities, including the WTC. Danny had arranged a meeting with the help of several people in Pakistan.

But as it turned out, the meeting was a trap. Sheikh Gilani never knew that an American journalist had come to interview him. And he himself actually always refused every interview request.

Finally, it was discovered that the party who trapped Danny was Sheikh Omar. Another hardline Muslim who has regularly kidnapped and held foreign tourists in Pakistan. Previously he had kidnapped 4 tourists (3 Americans and 1 British person) but all of them were released without the slightest injury. And this is what calms Mariane a little.

This entire film tells the story of the search process carried out by Mariane and his friends throughout Pakistan. With the assistance of Javed Habib (played by Irrfan Khan), chairman of the Pakistan Secret Police. And Randall Bennet (played by Will Patton), diplomatic security.

They retrace Danny's journey by reading all the emails on Danny's computer. Javed even granted access to investigations of all telephone operators, to trace phone numbers that may be linked to Danny's kidnapping.

It was in this process that the number of acts of the press was shown which made the atmosphere worse. One of them is the statement that Danny is actually a CIA spy disguised as a journalist. Meanwhile Mariane herself convinced that Danny was really looking for news purely, not for spying. The media also highlighted the existence of Asra Nomani (Archie Panjabi), Mariane's Indian friend. The media say that Asra's presence there is to spy on Pakistan. Because India, which is synonymous with Hinduism, is always at odds with Pakistan, which is synonymous with Islam. Even though Asra herself is actually a Muslim too. There is also news that Danny is actually dead and they find his body in the morgue. But when Randall and Javed looked over there, it wasn't Danny's body.

Marianne also got help from their Wall Street Journal colleague Bussey (played by Dennis O'Hara). Because normally, kidnappings like this would always contact the media first to notify the kidnapping and to announce the conditions they asked for the release of the prisoner. In addition, Danny is one of the journalists there.

Sure enough, that Danny's kidnapper made a condition through the media. They say that Danny is in their captivity and is being tortured. They did this because they were angry to see America also torturing the prisoners at Guantanamo Prison. They asked America to close Guantanamo and stop torturing the prisoners who were there. Otherwise they will also torture Danny like they tortured the prisoners at Guantanamo. As we know, Guantanamo Prison does contain prisoners associated with acts of terrorism. And the torture methods used there have spread to the public, even though the government does not want to give an official statement.

From the information Mariane got from Randall, it seemed like it would be very difficult to comply with the kidnapper's request. There's no way Guantanamo prison is closed just to save a journalist, that's their reason. The Pakistani military is also unwilling to help. According to them, the kidnapping occurred due to Danny's own negligence. Because he should have known how dangerous the hardliners were, but he still insisted on going to interview him without official notification to the Pakistani government. Even the military leader suspected that Danny was an American spy in Pakistan. So he refused to order the military to take part in Danny's release. So Mariane have to find their own way around it.

Mariane then appeared in an interview on CNN. In this interview he tries to ask for sympathy and pity from Danny's kidnapper. He described Danny as an honest and pure journalist, not a spy. After the interview, a lot of press from Pakistan, America and France (Mariane's home country) surrounded Asra's house where they live. But there is still no news from her husband.

Finally Javed managed to trace Sheikh Omar's residence and arrested him. But some time later a man came to deliver a camcorder containing a recording of Danny's whereabouts. From there they finally found out that Danny had actually been beheaded. The video also shows how cruelly they cut Danny's body into ten pieces.

Mariane screamed with anger and sadness when she learned that her husband had died a terrible death. She never wanted to see the video of her husband's murder first hand. But she knew it from the information Randall and Javed had given her. Finally he decided that there was nothing left that made him have to stay in Karachi.

Mariane then returned to his home country, France. There she gave birth to her son named Adam and settled there. He then wrote a book about the bitter experience he had felt, so that his son Adam could recognize his father whom he had not had time to see in the future.
