What even is this?
What even is this?
Hi there.
You’re probably wondering what The Envoy is. Don’t worry, when I first came across this TV show, I was also wondering.
Now, I could tell you the scripted version on the website.
That they’re a top-rated female-led travel docuseries on Prime, but that’s not what I’m here for.
I’m here to tell you about this. The site you’re on right now.
The Envoy Newsletter is a project that started more than a year ago. It’s a culmination of research and late nights spent creating a newsletter that never actually launched.
So what was the next best thing?
A site publishing all of the deep dives, the behind-the-scenes and all the ideas that never made it in front of the camera.
Guided by Anthony Bourdain’s former sources, The Envoy brings an optimistic lens to uncover how governments are leveraging food to shape a more sustainable and equitable future.
Each episode explores food diplomacy in extraordinary destinations around the world focused on:
Okay, now I'm done.
Who am I?
So, you’re probably wondering who I am.
I’m Jasmine, a journalism student from the University of Georgia. I worked with Anne Marie, the creator of The Envoy, for months. Writing newsletters, researching fonio and delving into the life of a travel docuseries exploring food and the culture surrounding it.
And, all of that culminated in this: a set of stories documenting how a concept about a tiny grain became a worldwide phenomenon.
Now that we’ve got that out of the way, let me introduce the real star — The Envoy.
