There Are Many Wild Life National Reserves In The State Of Zanzibar:
Jozani Forest Reserve: The Zanzibar Red Colobus monkey is one of the rarest primates. Distinct from its mainland species the Red Colobus has a very different coat pattern and food habits and calls. Other species found here are the Sykes monkey, bush babies, and duikers. There are also over 40 species of birds and 50 species of butterflies.
Ngezi Forest Reserve is home to the indigenous flying fox, duikers and a host of varieties of owls.
Kidike Root Site houses the famous but endangered Pemba flying fox. In its shelters one can also discover tortoises, Bush crabs, Vervet monkeys, Mozambique cobras, and Red Eyed doves.
Being a part of Tanzania the Serengeti National Park cannot be overlooked. This national reserve is quite famous for its annual migration of the white beard wildebeest and 250,000 zebras. This national park further extends into the country of Kenya as the Masai Mara National Park where the Masai safari is quite a thrilling adventure. Since the two countries share the vast Serengeti Plains the animals freely roam from one country to the other. It is only the name of the park that changes across the border but the wild life remains the same.
