Sometimes, our Government reminds me of one large sports (specifically football/soccer) game (stay with me here). I’d like to imagine the Legislative Branch as the rulemakers, creating and modifying the rules of our game. The Executive Branch are the players; they carry out (execute) the game. The Judicial branch is the referee, interpreting and applying the rules during the game and resolving disputes. The independent agencies even work in this metaphor; the SDIOA is like an ethics board, monitoring the games to ensure fairness. The Electoral Commission are the people who organize the matches. The Bar association is like a certification/licensing committee, evaluating and certifying those who are qualified to play the game. The Archives document our rules and the results of our matches. Each part of this game (especially the three main branches) relies on each other to ensure they don’t misuse their authority and power, and the maintenance and fairness of this game are essential to the stability of our government.
The Birds Word proudly presents the VIEWPOINT series. This is the sister series to PERSPECTIVE on VoD. This will be a series of articles centered around the three branches of SimDem government, along with the most notable independent agencies. This series will include interviews with the ‘face’ of these branches/independent agencies. This series aims to provide the average citizen of Simdem a more unbiased viewpoint regarding the people in charge of (or represent) the various branches of our government. These articles will be released daily, with the first article about the Legislative Branch being released on Sunday, the 3rd. The planned order of articles is as follows: The Legislative, the Executive, the Judicial, the SDIOA, the Bar, the Archives, the EC, and the conclusive article.
