~They don't migrate and enjoy snowy winters~
Appearance: female cardinals are light brown with a red tail and beak and male are fully bright red
Scientific name: cardinalis
Habitat: shrubby areas, woodland areas, small areas with trees and landscaping ex. Parks and backyards
Food: seeds, insects, occasionally fruit (fav food is spiders and centipedes)
Nests: the female cardinal finds twigs and bends them around her body to make a cup shape for the nest then they find grass, and sometimes they can use litter to add structure and support
They lay 3-6 eggs at a time
population: 130 million and is rapidly decreasing
Predators: owls, snakes, hawks, grey squirrels, domestic dogs
