Keanu Reeves seems mildly sedated during most of "Henry's Crime." I think that's intentional. He plays the feckless Henry Torne, an overnight toll booth attendant in Buffalo, who agrees to play in a softball game, drives a car filled with other players and discovers that what they're actually planning is a bank robbery. Henry gets caught and thrown in the slammer and takes it philosophically.

Our problem is finding a way to care about these events more than Henry apparently does. He seems to hover above his own life, detached, an observer. Into this life enter people who become more involved in it than he does. There's his friend Eddie Vibes (the conniving Fisher Stevens), who tricked him into the bank robbery. His prison cellmate is Max Saltzman (James Caan), a wiseguy from way back who knows all the angles, except how to stay out of prison. Henry's wife, Debbie (Judy Greer), ends their marriage while he's behind bars.

Out after a year in the slam, he finally discovers a woman who really knows how to get his attention. This is Julie Ivanova (Vera Farmiga), who hits him with her car. That'll do it. She's an actress rehearsing a production of Chekhov's "The Cherry Orchard," directed by Darek Millodragovic (Peter Stormare). Henry begins to like Julie. Then he discovers one of the dressing rooms in his theater is connected to an old tunnel that leads to the bank that the softball team was trying to rob.

SaviBank is a community bank proudly serving Skagit, Whatcom, Island and San Juan Counties with branches in Anacortes, Bellingham, Burlington, Concrete, Freeland, Friday Harbor, Mount Vernon, Oak Harbor, and Sedro-Woolley.

The plot revolves around an FBI agent and an Interpol detective who are on the hunt for a group of illusionists who loot banks and reward their audiences with money. Will those smart illusionists ever be caught red-handed?Watch the trailer here, Part 1 and Part 2IMDb: 7.3, 6.4Rotten Tomatoes: 50%/70%, 34%/53%Check out Now You See Me Part 1 and Part 2 on Netflix

Alec Guinness anchors this British crime caper, which is something of a spiritual precursor to a later Guinness vehicle, The Ladykillers. Here, he plays a meek bank clerk who, after years of going through his career unnoticed, hatches a plan to change his life dramatically by stealing a transport of gold bullion. Of course, the plot goes haywire in a most unexpected way, causing Guinness and his cohorts to scramble to set things back on course. Audrey Hepburn, pre-Roman Holiday, makes a blink-and-miss-it cameo.

Matt Damon narrates this upsetting documentary about how U.S. government officials were complicit in the 2008 crash. A late section of the film highlights the drug-fueled madness of American bankers and traders ala The Wolf of Wall Street.

This three-part series tells the true story of the biggest bank heist in Brazilian history, which involved the robbery of over 160 million, when a group of criminals dug a tunnel directly into the bank vault, back in 2005. This truly makes for a real-life version of Money Heist. The gang rented a nearby house and tunneled ninety yards underground to infiltrate the bank in Fortaleza.

In the second episode, the filmmakers track the actual hunt for the criminals. They explain how the crime was orchestrated, using animated sequences, like blueprints, of the route the bandits took through the tunnels. The detectives unravel the case by joining the dots, looking for patterns, and finding startling similarities between this and another Brazilian bank heist.

Greed is at the core of this film. It's incredible how money can corrupt people to the point that it will make them do things that ultimately, they will live to regret.

It was a surprise to see this Australian film that only played a couple of weeks in New York. It's a much better picture than some of the very highly regarded ones that came out just about the same time and are still around, while this one went back to Australia, probably.

The director, Robert Connelly presents us with a story that's very plausible. In it, the greedy banker, played with fine assurance by Anthony LaPaglia, wants to be able to get rich with a scheme that is presented to him by the mysterious David Wenham.

Aside from some of the technical aspects of the financial world, it is very entertaining and very nicely acted by all the actors in it.

This is an Australian suspense thriller about a mathematician, Jim Doyle, who develops a new theory based on chaos analysis that will enable a user to predict just about anything. A senior banking executive, Simon O'Reilly, gets a hold of the news and hires Jim to work for them, to develop a system that will predict financial markets.

Jim is altruistic - he wants to predict market collapses so that regular people can react in time. Simon sees a way to get rich. Simon is also one of those Gordan Gecko types who sees himself as part of the new feudal lords of capitalism, a member of the elite whose duty he sees as crushing the opposition.

This is a pretty clever film and I want to be careful not to give away the ending. You can sort of see it coming, but the actor playing Jim, David Wenham, is so under control that he doesn't give away a thing. You might recognize Wenham from his role as Faramir, Boromir's brother in the second installment of the Lord of the Rings trilogy. His acting makes this film succeed.

Anthony LaPaglia plays the ruthless banker, Simon, and he manages to make himself hateful for the audience. Sibylla Budd also plays the love interest of Jim very well (she has a deliciously sly smile).

Short on elaborate production values, but the story and the acting make this film exciting and one I'd recommend.
